But as Anna falters to make a decision about leaving her husband, government official Karenin (Jude Law), Vronsky continues to pursue his social life, leading Anna into a growing paranoia about his infidelities that eventually leads to tragic consequences.

On the hottest day of the summer of 1935, 13-year-old Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) sees her older sister Cecilia (Knightley) strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching Cecilia is their housekeeper's son Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), a childhood friend who, along with Briony's sister, has recently graduated from Cambridge. By the end of that day the lives of all three have been changed forever. Robbie and Cecilia have crossed a boundary they had never before dared to approach and have become victims of the younger girl's scheming imagination--and Briony has committed a dreadful crime, the guilt for which will colour her entire life.

I plumped for this set as I had, unusually for me(!), not purchased either Atonement or Pride & Prejudice before now, despite thinking they are outstanding films. For those interested in bundled digital copies, it's worth noting that, unlike the currently available stand-alone Blu-Ray, Anna Karenina does not include either an iTunes or Ultraviolet version; so, if that is an important bonus to you, factor in the additional cost of purchasing a copy of the film on iTunes / Blinkbox before ordering!

I could say good entertainment and value for this 3 film pack but it is an under statement, the one film that is head and shoulders above all is the version of Pride and Prejudice this with Keira Knightley is perfection, there has been some criticism of Matthew Macfadyen as MR Darcy but to my mind as a reader of the Jane Austen novels they both play their parts to perfection, and the special piano background suite is a dream to guide you through it, at 9 years old the only equal to it is Colin Firths version with Jennifer Ehle as the feisty Elizabeth Bennet, although what Jane Austen would have thought of the BBC inspired pond dip I shudder to think but it has a multitude of enthusiastic followers, I don,t believe either of these films could be bettered and it,s no wonder that there has not been another version, it being a hard act to follow.

Bought as gift but already seen it at cinema. A creative version of the original; very whimsical, innovative staging ideas and superb costumes (the designer won an award). Would strongly recommend.

I wanted to watch Anna Karenina again but have really enjoyed the whole set. I watched Atonement on a transatlantic flight - it was much better than I remembered.
