This is a great book! The illustrations and pictures are vivid, which capture kids imagination; if the pics are good in any book they'll keep looking at it! It is great at showing kids that it can be done. It is written clearly and has other good messages in it, surrounding the ethos of Shotokan Karate. I also have the Beginners Guide, which is also a fantastic book, but this is sometimes a little heavy for younger children. I've even referred to Karate for Children at times! I can see this volume and the next volumes getting well thumbed dog-eared pages. It is a must for young Karate-ka.

For any child even slightly interested in Karate this book is educational and fascinating, for the student it is essential.
It's packed with stories explaining the history and origins of Karate as well as detailed instructions covering all of the basic moves, written in a way that will capture a child's imagination.

THE BOOK IS BEAUTIFULLY ILLISTRATED AND EXPLAINS KARATE CLEARLY IN A LANGUAGE THAT BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS CAN UNDERSTAND. AN INVALUABLE TRAINING AID FOR ANY CHILD INTERESTED IN KARATE. IT ALSO INCLUDES A LOT OF INTERESTING ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONCERNING THE HISTORY OF KARATE AND JAPANESE LANGUAGE USED IN INTERMEDIATE KARATE TRAINING.
