A few things first.
Yes, i am a Karajan fanatic, always have been - totally biased towards the great man & very proud of it.
Yes, it is very expensive but worth every penny.
If you can afford it, don't hesitate.
I bought my copy, brand new, a few weeks ago on Amazon France ( amazon.fr )for £3,000. It took 2 days to arrive which is incredible.
They have one more brand new copy left if anyone is interested. It's current price is 3,949 euros which approximately £3,355 at the moment.
The whole set is built to last & absolutely beautiful.
It comes with all the librettos for the 16 operas - in original language & Japanese - plus 2 lavish & beautifully illustrated hardback books, 100 & 200 pages each, in Japanese. The books contain the words for all the choral & vocal pieces in original language & Japanese.
The bonus 2 cd set contains extensive rehearsal recordings of Karajan's 1962 Choral symphony & his 1970's Four Seasons.
This, for me, is life enhancing & life changing.
Karajan i love you.
Here are the links for the 5 other cd items that are also very rare & were issued for the Japanese market only at the same time as this box set.
