i had it about a quarter full with nothing heavier than a couple of small books, clothing etc, and after 1 day of travel round london the bottom exterior fabric was badly ripped, and the plastic base was showing signs of heavy wear.
i don't think it will last long, even when used at very little of its capacity, which defies its point.
I bought this item to carry an inflatable mobile planetarium dome because the holdall it was in had many holes in it. This replacement was bigger and contains the dome with ease (and space to spare). The material is about the same thickness of the old holdall and I anticipate it will have the same strength. I have found though the that bag deforms under weight and is a bit like a jelly wobbling around on the wheels. It clearly needs some form of stiffener along the base to stop it bending towards the person pulling it and I do not think that I would like to be pulling it around an airport filled with luggage. It is obvious that the designer has wanted to save on weight and they have achieved that - the bag is very light indeed. It has lost out on rigidity though and this turns it into an amorphous mass with a mind of its own. The mass inside migrates towards the lowest point and the lack of rigidity causes it to bend like a banana. This might sound like an odd analogy but think of a morbidly obese person trying to walk. As they do so their bag of fat wobble with a mind of its own. The only difference with this bag is that you are trying to pull it in one direction. Once you change direction the mass changes position and can cause problems.
I only need it to contain the planetarium and keep it clean. The transportation of it is by vehicle and trolley. Without a trolley the bag would trail on the surface it was being pulled over and would be ripped to shreds on tarmac for example.Read more ›
son used on his trip to china, got every thing with room to spare. however be aware, due to its size it must weigh the allowance, and it will be your resposability to but it on a different access point on the belt for loading as it is too bulky for the attendance to handle.
however while zipping up the bag , it split along the seam , so not very durable or strong , we had to use suitcase straps to hold the bag together to ensure the hole did not get any larger during transit , It servered its purpose , but be warned we only needed a large bag to go one way if you are looking for a bag to transport kit back and forth by rail or plane , this bag probably wont last very long . definitely reccommend using tie down straps to make the bag more secure .
I was a little worried with the update emails as I had the dispatched one & then a waiting for collection one. I thought it may not arrive in time but it did.
