so very very good 1 April 2002

Ok, i'm not one to give out a 5 star rating, but this album is wonderful. That's really the word to use. There are some sad songs, and some upbeat ones, but they all imbue a sense of life and wonder at our world. I didn't know what to think about this guy at first. I'm a huge fan of a band he was/is in called Honey Is Cool, but they sing in English. I know 2 words in Swedish, neither of which are spoken on this album, but from the first song it doesn't seem to matter. I can't understand the lyrics, and musically it's not terribly innovative, but it has managed nonetheless to be the freshest, most wonderfully positive record I've heard in a long time. Every song from the first to the last is so, so good.

NOT the Swedish Chef! 9 Mar 2002
By Pamela A. Rooks - Published on
Format: Audio CD
When you realize you're singing baby-talk "Swedish" in public, it's hard to decide whether you're exceptionally cool or a little pathetic. Hakan Hellstrom belongs to the respectable school of pop, not to be confused with the embarassing N'Sync school. His music is sophisticated, and his lyrics are too--if you bother to translate them (or are lucky enough to BE Swedish). The songs on this album range from the melancholy Nu Kan du Fa Mig to En Van med en Bil, which just makes you wanna dance. It doesn't matter if you don't speak a word of Swedish--Hakan Hellstrom is wonderful.

This is a GREAT album! His lyrics are so wonderful. Not many albums have 10 very good songs... I highly recomend "atombomb" the lyrics are really telling us how it is to be young. I also think you should check out "Broder Daniel" a great band, Håkan is the bass player.
love him 12 Aug 2006

It's really fun, as a swedish girl, to read what you think about Håkan. Personally I love him.
His lyrics are quite strange, but you can still regognize yourself in them. You can find beautiful expressions you've never heard before that's far from all the clichés we hear from most of the pop music today. It's too bad that non swedish speaking people don't get the opportunity to understand his lyrics. If someone wants help translating his lyrics from swedish to english I'd be happy to help:D
I also love Håkan because he is so down to earth and never ever forgets about his fans. When I and a friend was at a swedish tv-show we stood up for nearly 10 hours so we got to see the rehearsals too. During the rehearsals he came to chat with us fans and when he heard how long we had waited for him he said: is it true? I just want to give you all a big hug! I actually think I love each and everyone of you...
I take every chance I get to see him, and so far I've seen him live 5 times. My most wonderful memorie of seeing him live was when I and my cousin were at his concert in Stockholm last summer. Håkan sang a version of Nu kan du få mig, with only piano accompaning him. In the end everyone (thousands and thousands of people) sang quietly "om du vill haa mig nu kan du få mig så lätt" it was almost spiritual:D

New Swedish hope 23 Sep 2001
By Arne Austarheim - Published on
Format: Audio CD
On his first solo effort in 2000 Håkan Hellstrøm conquers us all.
Catchy hooklines, great choruses and very melodic songs, this Swede gives us the best of the 80's popmusic. Some songs could be related to british bands Jam and The Smiths, but these songs stand tall on their own merit. You should especially listen to the GREAT ballad "Vi två,17 år" (We two,17 years).
Highly recommended !!!
