5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome second book in series - a must read 30 Aug. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the second book in Kane novel series and is an absolute must read. Detective Dan Kane has the horrific challenge of finding the serial killer before any more murders take place. The scenes as described and violence are horrific and at times disturbing but the over riding desire is wanting to find the killer so just be warned that the story will take you places that will challenge you but it is worth it and the ending doesn't disappoint. My only advice is give yourself space to read this in as few sittings as you can and you will be kept on edge of seat throughout the story. What makes this a worthwhile read is the ongoing underlying story about the Kane family.

5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping yarn 1 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Gannon writes with the surety of an artist we'll versed in his craft. The plot and story line are both convincing and compelling, the characters believable and, for the most part, we'll rounded. His use of language, and his command of dialogue, make for make an easy and enjoyable read.
I'd recommend this and the entire series of Kane novels to also enjoy a gripping yarn!

5.0 out of 5 stars gave me nightmares.... 4 Oct. 2012
By Caro
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well, I started reading this book one Sunday afternoon and all evening up until bedtime, by which time I was thoroughly hooked. Unfortunately I had nightmares all that night of someone chasing me with a knife, but I guess that's a sign of a book that leaves its mark!!

I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Did speed read a bit towards the end, but I was desparate to know how it panned out.

A good book, well worth a read even though I found the bad guy horrendously disturbing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book 21 Dec. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Another excellent book from Steve Gannon.
This is the second book about Kane, the rollercoaster ride with his wife and children, and not least his total devotion to his police work of catching murderers.
This is an adrenaline filled read with twists and turns, heart stopping moments, humour, some laugh out loud, and some crushingly sad moments.
It is hard to put down, you just need to read to the end of the paragraph, the next page, to the end of the chapter, only to want/need to keep on reading.
Only just go finished reading this and am immediately going to download the next book "Alison".
If you want a thriller that makes you laugh out loud one moment, then want to cry the next, along with police procedure, the ups and downs of catching the bad guys, then this is the book and author for you.
READ IT, you won't regret a single moment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book 18 Feb. 2013
By ED

This is my first book by Steve Gannon and I'll definitely be reading more. Fantastic plot and characters. I raced to finish it, and relished in the strength of a family coming together against a nasty bad man! Go the Kanes.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read 5 Feb. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Police procedural. Good characterisation. Sufficient action to keep your interest even if the main protagonist is revealed early on. Main character development is good leading to a secondary story.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read 18 Oct. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a good book and an exciting read. The story is well told with decent characterization and you feel you get to know the characters as the book progresses. And the plot makes sense as well, although the motivation for the villain is never explained convincingly. So that's all good, so why only four stars? Simple. It's the back story. The protagonist is saddled with one of the most stupid and irritating families I've ever encountered in fiction. His wife needs to wake up and smell the coffee, and the children are just terminally annoying. If they were my family, I'd probably have shot the lot by now. My other problem is the climax of the book which just seemed both wholly predictable and extremely unlikely, as if the protagonist had suddenly lost all reasoning ability and was completely unable to see what was manifestly obvious to everybody else, and certainly to the reader. But having said all that, I did enjoy it, and I might well read another novel by the same author.

4.0 out of 5 stars another page turner
This book is hard to put down . It is fast paced thriller. Though a sequel to an earlier Kane book, you don't need to have read the first one to enjoy this one.
