Although it's some years since these games were released, I think this pack represents excellent value. It contains the original Tropico game, together with an expansion pack, and Tropico 2. I was thoroughly addicted to Tropico when it first came out and still play it regularly today. It's a light-hearted city-building simulation, with some very amusing scenarios. You play a dictator in charge of an island, and can either play sandbox style or work through a number of scenarios. You have to manage resources carefully, including crops such as corn, papaya, bananas, coffee, tobacco etc; operate a pro-American or pro-Russian regime (or remain neutral); develop tourism without spoiling the island; and keep the various factions on the island happy (military, religious, academics, etc.) whilst also making sure your citizens vote for you every 7 years by providing them with decent housing, entertainment and food. But, as this is actually a dictatorship, you can of course also bribe people, rig the elections or simply refuse to hold elections at all, in which case you may find yourself run off the island by a military coup! You can choose various personality attributes for your dictator (anyone for flatulence?!) which act as modifiers affecting your popularity with various factions or giving you a certain bonus. The expansion pack adds extra scenarios. Tropico 2 has similar gameplay, but with a different theme - pirates! I confess I didn't take to this as much as the original, but the graphics and pathfinding / artificial intelligence of Tropico 2: Pirates' Cove, are slightly improved over the original, so it's well worth playing. This new release, Tropico Reloaded, is definitely good value for money and excellent preparation for the release of Tropico 3, which is due out in September 2009.
