5.0 out of 5 stars Get away from neutral! 29 Oct 2011
Format:Paperback
Embrace colour!
Quilts in Sweden is another inspirational book from the master colourist and designer Kaffe Fassett. It is always good to know that any one of us could make one of these gorgeous objects as the whole process is clearly explained. Kaffe uses a range of fabrics from Rowan which are obtainable from their website although you can use these designs as a template and choose your own or use up pieces you have put by in the true tradition of patchwork. I joined a patchwork and quilting class to get started and now belong to a social group which is fun and greatly encouraging.
The great skill of KF is that he has somehow captured the essence of a fine craft tradition, designing fabric patterns which are perfect for cutting into fragments and finding the most fascinating ways in which to recombine them. There is room in every home for one of these creations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quilts in Sweden, not Swedish quilts 6 Jan 2012
By Penmark
Format:Paperback
Wonderful photography and wonderful quilts. I had thought the quilts might have a Swedish influence, but in fact they are more of the same of Kaffe Fassett's unmistakable style - incredibly colourful and a marvellous juxtaposition of patterns. Sweden's Gustavian furniture is featured plus the lovely houses at Skansen - the outdoors museum that I never managed to visit on my numberous visits to Stockholm! A lovely book about quilts, but not Swedish quilts.
