Product Description

Product Description

This book is published in conjunction with a three-month exhibition of the designer's work at the V&A in October 1988. The author urges his readers to develop their own colour sense and experiment with different combinations by demonstrating his own creative response to the treasures of the V&A, particularly in the ceremic, glass and enamel collections. Fassett uses motifs such as stars, diamonds, stripes, flowers and fauna and the myriad forms they take in the decorative arts of different cultures. The designs featured in this book include a coat based on blue and white china and a cushion and sweater inspired by Islamic tiles in brilliant blues and greens. Kaffe Fassett is also the author of "Glorious Knitting" and "Glorious Needlepoint".

indeed, glorious colour! 5 Aug 2005
By Patricia R. Andersen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Kaffe Fassett has done it again. The master of color has 17 wonderful projects for knitting as well as needlepoint and you just can't help but be inspired by this book. The yarns used in this great rainbow of projects are Rowan's, but you can substitute other yarns and achieve your own effects - make it to match your sofa or perhaps your love's green eyes.

The photography is by Steve Lovi, who lovingly captures all the nuances and subtle colors in Mr Fassett's work. (Mr Lovi has worked on other books with Mr Fassett.) The "Persian Poppy Waistcoat" is terrific, the "stars and diamonds" seiries of sweaters have to be seen to be believed and the needlepoint is out of this world amazing. The instructions are concise and clear.

This is not a book for a beginning knitter, but if you're looking to jump start your knitting, maybe make a truly glorious sweater for yourself or a loved one, this book is the place to start. I recommend this book highly.

This edition lacked some patterns I had in my first edition ("Feathers") that was in my previous edition, which unfortunately I had given away.
Other than that it is a lovely, inspiring book.

Kaffee fassett at the V & A 21 Sep 2010

Book is very nice. Not for beginning knitters or those who want line by line instruction. Unusual format for charting but imminently sensible once you adjust to it. Same book was printed in the US with the title Kaffee Fassett's Glorious color for Needlepoint & Knitting.
