This film has managed to capture the very essence of first loves, past loves, marriage and children.
It delves into the pain and anguish of forgotten pasts and how they are dealt with in the present. The storyline is gripping from the very first scene right to the last.
Shashi Kapoor provides an excellent portrayal of the understanding and forgiving husband while Rakhi becomes her character of a dutiful wife with a past. Amitabh Bacchan is as usual in top form playing a slightly different role to his well known character of an "angry young man".
Kabhi Kabhi delivers tears, laughter, anger, romance, frustration and most of all, satisfaction to any viewer. It is still a hit today just as it was yesterday...

A film that was ahead of it time, as mentioned by Yash Chopra and a daring move that Amitabh had made from this 'Young Angry Man" to this romantic lead. Such a soft film that deals not with anger but with the Heart and the lives of people.

All the cast, Waheeda Rehman, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Rakhee, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh were great in there roles and a special appearance from Iftikhar.

This was an era when Bollywood started to change and talents such as Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh were raiding and exploding on screen, Amitabh too.

I'm not a fan of indian Films, I think modern Indian cinema is crap.
I do however enjoy watching older movies, from the 50ies, 60ies and 70ies, and this is deeply rooted in the Golden Age of The Bombay Film Studios.
Great music, dialogue, cinematography and acting and a lovely story.
Someone on another review called this Film dated! dated? Foolish statement!

This very dated film was a great disappointment and I kept wishing that scenes which included european music, dance and fashion had been avoided. I look to Bollywood to encapsulate eastern style romance, music and dance and I am sorry when Bollywood apes Hollywood badly.

the movie was excellent, however, right towards the end it 'froze' - I had to really 'mess' around with skip back and then slow skip forward .......managed it somehow in the end and saw the final scenes. I appreciate that it's an old movie.

This film is not a typical bollywood love story. This film actually has a story line.Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor play good roles. This story is about a couple who love each other dearly, but for an unfortunate circumstance both end up marrying different people. The song lyrics and music in itself makes the movie a beautiful love story which will be a favourite for all.
