Packed full of fantastic black and white pictures that show the main kata's still used today for progression through to shodan. A lot of techniques within the kata themselves have since evolved and differ slightly, certainly in the syllabus I now train under, but this acts as a wonderful marker to show some of the differences between the KUGB / JKA kata of the time and the kata taught now.
As with all karate books this is no substitutes for training with a good karate club (or probably even a bad one) but as a learning tool it is well recommended. However, the main reason to buy this book is to see some of the legendry karateka of the day (including Andy Sherry, Bob Poynton, Bob Rhodes, Terry O'Neill, and Frank Brennan). Fearsome competitors at national level and recorded here during the prime years of representing the KUGB at national and international level.
As with all karate books this is no substitutes for training with a good karate club (or probably even a bad one) but as a learning tool it is well recommended.
