but it is very pliable and so far unable get the motor to engage properly to enable mouth etc to function properly. Cleverly the pieces are colour coded so no problems getting the right piece for the right place constructionwise.Its for a Step Grandson who is aged 9. Spent all day yesterday building and unbuilding the Chomp!

It's a good kit, as with all K'nex stuff. In my view though, the end product has appeal for children aged 7-9, but my 7 year old's fingers just weren't strong enough to clip some of the bits on which meant that I had to help and once I'd helped, in her view, it wasn't her model any more. The tongue structure is disappointingly flimsy - when I'd finished it, Lucy having lost interest, the model movement was good, but the tongue kept falling off and tripping it up. Couldn't get it to stay together. There must be a good reason why the tongue couldn't come in one piece, rather than three, but I can't see what it is.

While this robot was generally easy for my 9-year-old to put together with some assistance from an adult, she didn't become overly frustrated with it and in the past few weeks, it has been able to withstand being played with gently, but not TOO gently. She and her brother have also enjoyed putting their two (different) robots together and mixing and matching the pieces to create different things.
Overall, it seems to be worth the price for an activity that really involves learning but doesn't make the children FEEL like it's educational.
