Bought this for my 4 year old as he has tried knex before, really likes the theme, but slightly fiddly peices. Only negative point is that you have to join the knex club online to get more instructions for the models pictured. Overall- good building kit.

K-Nex seem to have lost their way.
A few years ago we bought great stuff from them (simple models to remote control robot kits)
for our son, which were very good indeed.
We've tried to do this for our nephew now, and have been disappointed by the quality and
value.
This kit comes in a nice box, but inside the contents are underwhelming - could have been
fitted into a much smaller box.
Also the box picture is larger than real size.
They are also trying too hard to copy lego. Originally we were impressed
by k-nex because it was so much better than lego as a building concept.

The company has lost their way badly which is a great shame.

It's just not Legos. 6 Jan 2009
By D. Teague - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
Let me begin by saying that I did not buy this toy from Amazon, but it really doesn't matter about that.

On the surface, this looks like a really nice building toy, some combination of classic k'nex and building blocks similar to the lego style. However, my kids soon discovered that the blocks just do not stay together. It's basically impossible to build the bulldozer with the rubber belts around the wheels because the belt just keeps pulling off the axles from the main body of the machine. They just won't stay on. The other blocks do not stay together either. The traditional k'nex pieces of the rods and the spokes work great, but for the blocks, stick with Legos.

Skip K'nex, buy Lego's instead. 9 Sep 2009

Lego is definitely more expensive, but K'nex is just another word for frustration. The things fall apart. Wheels fall off. There aren't enough pieces to reinforce the models. The kids get frustrated. They are really a cheap Lego knock off in my opinion.

Fun kit for little builders 6 Jan 2009
By Laura Stcyr - Published on Amazon.com

My son was very happy with this kit. He is a young builder (only 5 1/2) and he needed some help, but he enjoyed making his own inventions as much as the kit itself.
Find something elsedDoesn't stay together 29 Dec 2009

My 8 year old son bought this for himself as he enjoys Knex products and we have enjoyed workng on large Knex products like the roller coaster together. This toy combines Knex pieces and Lego-type pieces. However in putting it together, the lego type pieces simply do not stay together. They basically come apart with gravity and are ok if you plan to put this on a shelf, but if you plan on playing with this I would avoid this toy. I became frustrating trying to get the toy to stay together and it is simply not made correctly to stay together and enjoy. I would encourage you to find another toy.
