Format: Paperback
In this volume things become a lot more dramatic. I'm trying really hard, not to give away, any spoilers.
Sawako being a social outcast because of her looks finally has interaction with other people.
Through misunderstandings, Sawako believes that she is a hindrance and others will suffer as result of being around her, though she is being selfless , like all people , she has a degree of selfishness ,because she doesnt want to return to that life of solitude which most who have been in that position can empathise with. Her problems, demonstrated from the start of the series, is her lack of interaction with people, often has her reading the situation wrong. Because of these circumstances, we get to see character development from supporting female leads Chizuru and Ayane as well as supporting male characters Ryo and Pin who didnt feature much in the 1st book. Finally Kazehaya the male lead in the story demonstrates more of his kindness but this novel is not centric to his character. The other half of the manga-coin is the art, over 40 pages a chapter the artwork is fantastic, the way it's oriented, creates the appropriate atmosphere, to capture the desired emotion

HASH(0x99396d8c) out of 5 stars Speak Up, Sawako! 21 Feb. 2010
By Ellen W. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
In this volume, everyone's talking about Sawako's friends, Yano and Yoshida. They say that Yano dated a ton of guys in middle school and that Yoshida is a Yankee. And the source of these rumors? Sawako! Or so everyone says. Yano and Yoshida don't believe it at first, but then they overhear Sawako saying that they're not her friends. Meanwhile, Sawako gets the idea that Yano and Yoshida are unhappy because their association with her is damaging their reputations. She tries to stay away from them, but it's harder to go back to the way things were than she expected. How will this mess ever be resolved?

I liked this volume, but I did get a little bit frustrated with it. It's one of those where the whole thing could be resolved if the characters would just talk to each other. Interestingly, though, this is point of the whole volume. The confusion was a little bit unrealistic, but, eh, I still enjoyed it. The end was a little cliched, complete with a showdown in the girls' bathroom. But at least this part shows us that Sawako does, indeed, have a spine. And it's nice that this manga focuses on Sawako's friendships as well as her romantic interest. Shojo manga tend to overlook these relationships.

This is a good volume overall. It's a little frustrating and cliched, but it's got plenty of heart. It's cute and funny, and the art is still wonderful. It's impossible not to love this warm little manga.
HASH(0x99310228) out of 5 stars Friends Are There For You 1 Feb. 2015
By Bengirlxd - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I finished volume 2 of Kimi Ni Todoke tonight and let me start off by saying that I loved this volume a lot more than the first. For me though I liked the first, it was very cliched and the jokes though good I could see a mile away. Overall the first volume gave me a good read but I gotta say this volume really has me hooked for the series!

This volume kicks off after Sawako has made friends with Yoshida and Yano along with Kazehaya and Ryu and continues on with the story. The volume really does start with a bang because I found the opening seen to be quite hilarious( no spoilers for the non readers). I was thoroughly pleased and it set me in a good mood for the rest of the book.

Though the first book had a light hearted approach to the concept of bullying, this volume takes it a lot more seriously which I liked. Rumors begin going around that Yoshida was a gangster in middle school and Yano dated a lot of boys and apparently the school was blaming Sawako for the rumors. This puts a strain on the relationship the friends have. Will everything turn all right in the end? Well you have to read to find out :).

I really enjoyed the pacing of this volume and the storytelling was great. Ryu seemed to be the only level headed guy in this volume and he is becoming a favorite character for me. I was glad that the focus was not on Kazehaya and Sawakos relationship in this volume because I like diversity in storytelling. I'm glad that this series did not fall into the trap of making it solely about the love story between that main characters.

Volume 2 was a great addition to the series and I can't wait to start volume three. This volume is BengirlxD approved.
HASH(0x9963ae7c) out of 5 stars Volume 2 - Rumors 9 Oct. 2009
By Amelia - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
When Yoshida and Yano hear that Sawako is the source of the rumors about them their first reaction is to laugh. They think the idea of Sawako as a backstabber is so absurd it's funny. However, as vol. 2 progresses, one misunderstanding after another leaves Yoshida and Yano fearing that Sawako actually doesn't like them at all. To their surprise, they discover that they think of Sawako as a friend and are hurt to think she doesn't feel the same.

As for Sawako herself, she wishes she was friends with Yoshida and Yano, but gets it into her head that being around her will hurt the popularity of the two girls, and Kazehaya as well, so she starts avoiding them all... but she discovers that she can't go back to being the loner that she was. Thankfully the misunderstandings are cleared up by the end of the volume so the unhappiness of the three girls isn't dragged out too long.

However, Kazehaya's distress is not fully resolved. He is relieved to learn the real reason Sawako avoided him, but then feels that he needs to step back and let Sawako better establish her friendship with Yoshida and Yano before he tries to take his own relationship with her further. Volume 2 concludes with Kazehaya wistfully wondering how long he should wait before pursuing Sawako.

We see the nameless wavy-haired girl from vol. 1 again at the end of vol. 2, and while we still don't know who she is, it's looking like she may be the source of the rumors.
HASH(0x99600774) out of 5 stars Entertaining read 19 Feb. 2010

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You, Vol. 1 Continuing from Vol. 1 the storyline stayed really entertaining, but also manage to add some new drama. With Vol. 2 the drama added some new views and and a test for our main charter. So to for the people who haven't read this one yet. Why don't you buy Vol.2 and read to see what drama she goes through and how she makes it through. For the people who have read this Vol. I hope that you where as intently reading as I was to see what would happen next.
HASH(0x992c00b4) out of 5 stars Friendship !! 3 Nov. 2012

This Volume is all about the rumors that has started to spread about Swako's friends and how they thought that Sawako is the one who spread them ... what i like about this volume is it focused about Sawako friends this volume is a little frustrating cause Sawako can clear this misunderstanding if she spoke up in the first place but i guess this is Sawako's personality and you can't hate her for that. I really love this Volume cause friendship is one of the most important things in life
