Product Description

"The author created a vicious serial killer who you will despise. The
characters of Carla and Sully are quite likable. The story line is
intense and at times, heart-stopping. I very much enjoyed the book and
recommend it to anyone who likes a fast-paced story, packed with action
and suspense." R.J. Parker, Top 500 Reviewer

"She (Mosiman) develops the tension skillfully, using beautifully constructed
prose and well developed characters. She is without a doubt a master of
her art." Lisa Lane

Billie Sue Mosiman is an Edgar and Bram Stoker Nominated Author of more than 50 books.
This novel was originally published by Pocket Books and this is a new revision.

KILLING CARLA--
He came out of nowhere and murdered Sully's wife, Frannie. Due to police negligence, the case was thrown out of court, and the killer never prosecuted. Sully wanted revenge. Yet it's Carla, Frannie's sister, who meant to right the wrong and make sure this killer didn't get away with it.

Lansing was a serial killer in the last throes of a terminal disease. In his head he lived in a castle tower where below the rabble shouted for his death. In the real world he stalked Carla because she was intent on his destruction. No one was going to take Lansing down and surely not a young woman intent on revenge. He would get her first.

Now Carla was speared in his spotlight and he must watch her, study her, find a way to take her. He was obsessed with the thought of KILLING CARLA...

"Billie Sue Mosiman's novels are edge-of-the-seat all the way!" Ed Gorman, award winning author of BAD MOON RISING

More About the Author

I am a thriller, suspense, and horror novelist, a short fiction writer, and a lover of words. In a diary when I was thirteen years old I wrote, "I want to grow up to be a writer." It seems that was always my course. My books have been published since 1984 and two of them received an Edgar Award Nomination for best novel and a Bram Stoker Award Nomination for most superior novel. I've been represented by the William Morris Agency, belonged to many professional writing organizations, and wrote columns and reviews in magazines. I have been a regular contributor to a myriad of anthologies and magazines, with more than 150 short stories published. My work has been in such diverse publications as Horror Show Magazine and Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine. I have one collection of my short stories called DARK MATTER in hardcover and several e-book collections. For a while I taught writing for Writer's Digest and for AOL online, and gave writing workshops locally in Texas.

Once I was on a panel in Austin, Texas at a book conference where the then First Lady of Texas, Laura Bush, attended and later had me sign my book for her. She, of course, became the nation's First Lady.

I was born in Alabama and live now in Texas on a small ranch.

My work has been predominately suspense thrillers, but I also wrote a western historical, a trilogy of vampire novels, a travel memoir, and, of course, many short stories. My latest novel is BANISHED, a dark fantasy horror novel involving fallen angels. Most of my work has been made available at kindle.com for the e-book reader, including my Stoker-nominated novel, WIDOW, and my Edgar-nominated novel, NIGHT CRUISING.

I love to read (especially on my Kindle), paint, take photographs, and travel. I can name two inspiring persons in my life. One was my grandmother, Naomi, who by simply loving me unconditionally gave me faith in myself--and, every day and forever, my husband, who has lived this adventure with me.

Because of my love of storytelling, I've been fortunate enough to make a lifelong investment in writing stories and novels.

I have not finished this book, and I am very unlikely to do so. Just do not 'get' the whole premise of the plot. Not for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars A HEART-POUNDING SUSPENSE STORY 6 May 2012
By RJPP - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
KILLING CARLA by Billie Sue Mosiman is a gripping and most captivating novel.

The killer got off on a technicality with murdering Sully's wife, Frannie. Sully is pissed and wants revenge. Frannie's sister Carla, wants to off the killer herself. They team up to get the killer, but he's playing cat and mouse with them, while he's killing more people.

The author created a vicious serial killer who you will despise. The characters of Carla and Sully are quite likable. The story line is intense and at times, heart-stopping. I very much enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who likes a fast-paced story, packed with action and suspense. 5 stars for this prolific author. I look forward to reading more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! 4 April 2012
By Franklin E. Wales - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It is not secret that I've been a fan of Mosiman's work for years. In fact this is the book that started it all for me. Originally published under the title SLICE, I bought the paperback back in 93 and have been a fan ever since. Although she has written many other fantastic books since then, this remains my personal favorite. (Perhaps what a friend told me once is true--You never forget your first Mosiman) In fact to this day it is one of my all time favorite five books. (It ranks up there between 1 and 2). As an author myself, this book taught me a wealth of information on tension, something Mosiman is know for. I've re-read that old paperback so many times that the glue binding the book is nearly gone. So you can imagine my joy to find this version on Kindle! (And for only a few pennies more that I spent back then!)

Killing Carla is page turning, white knuckle fiction. Without giving away spoilers, I will tell you this much: there are pieces inside this book that will leave you breathless and stay with you forever. Tension? Consider this akin to the razor's edge. It may leave a mark on you for life, but you will relish every moment. I've you've never read Mosiman, start here. You will be back for more. If you already are a fan, why are you wasting your time reading my words? Download and read it now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful Suspenseful Horror 18 April 2012
By Jenn - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
* I received a review copy of this book from the author*
Billie Sue Mosiman does it again!!!! This is a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.

Carla is a very strong minded young woman who watched the man who killed her sister walk free to be able to continue to murder more innocent people. Her and her brother-in-law both hold a hatred to strong for this man that they follow him to put a stop to him once and for all. Little do they know this will lead to the worse night of their lives, and the book only gets better from there.

Billie Sue writes such believable characters for this book that you cannot help but to get emotionally wrapped up in the words. This book has such a cold hearted killer and victims who have to fight for what they love. I was brought to tears as I felt the loss of life with in these masterful pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful and Well Crafted 11 Aug 2012
By Lisa Lane - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first work I've read of Mosiman's, and I must say I'm very impressed with her craftsmanship. She develops the tension skillfully, using beautifully constructed prose and well developed characters. She is without a doubt a master of her art. Her use of description is detailed and raw, appealing equally to the senses and the emotions. I found the ending thoroughly gratifying, although I did hope to see a somewhat more hellish fate for Lansing.

There were only a few character motivations that did not sit well with me, the most substantial being Sully's refusal to call in Carla as missing until morning--at which time, there is a sudden sense of urgency to get the search for her started. It also seemed unnatural that any of the characters would even consider the token Lansing leaves in the garden would have come from anyone other than Carla. Lastly, Lansing's sudden desire for Carla to be quiet just as soon as Sully and Flap reach the base of the mountain felt far too coincidental; it felt like the characters knew too much in that regard, although I do have to qualify this by adding that it deterred little from the overall quality of the work.

KILLING KARLA kept me on the edge of my seat throughout most of the story, and I will definitely be reading more of her works. I rate this story a very enthusiastic 4.5 stars.
