Product Description

Copper has always been a close companion to mankind since the beginning of history becoming one of the essential kitchen tools during Renaissance thanks to its excellent characteristics. Strong, ductile and malleable, copper is the best heat conductor ever(except silver and gold), favourite among chefs for any professional cooking need and also fascinates any cuisine enthusiast with its dazzling pink lights and elegant, timeless appeal. The copper used in Kiliza cookware has exceptional conductivity (392°) compared to aluminum (225°) and stainless steel (16°). Kiliza copper pans guarantee completely even cooking, even on a low flame. Heat is quickly conducted from the base to the sides of the pan. Food does not stick to the bottom or burn as long as the proper temperature and stirring techniques are used. Copper gives a constant cooking temperature and a considerable saving in energy, thanks to the very rapid rise to temperature. We use thicknesses of 1.6 mm to 2.0mm. This thickness is perfect for home cooking: excellent heat transmission and relatively low weight. Our exquisite copper collections are hand crafted and tin plated by master coppersmiths using centuries-old techniques and well proven skills handed down through many generations Any visible streak is not to be considered as a defect but the proof of the hand crafting. Known as a "green" material, copper is 100% eco-friendly and recyclable. Once formed, the copper is hammered and tinned over fire by hand. To achieve the hammered finish, heated copper is methodically hand struck with a device similar to a meat tenderizer to achieve an extremely delicate imprinted pattern.

Great Value for money 10 May 2011
By Ben
Kiliza copeer pans are great value for money.I recommend it as it is great for home cooking, the thickness is 1.6 to 2mm which is not too heavy as I find it quite difficult to cook with thicker ones. I love the hammered effects (you can also get smooth finishes as well), the shapes they make are unusual and different in addition to the classic pots and pans and I enjoy to cook and serve with them. The pans are lined with tin which I think is the best option for copper as stainless steel lining is a waste of money since the poor heat conduction of stainless counteracts the copper's capabilities and it is not as healthy as copper and tin. The company also relines the pans for their own customers which I think is great, solving all the worries and toubles of finding a place to make them retinned. The lining lasts about 2-3 years depending on the usage.
