Earth Wind & Fire Jazzy Samuri Style ! ! ! 26 Jun 1999
By Eddie Landsberg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
My review of 5 1/2 summed up the history of this quirky, often hard edged pop funk band. K2C represents their slick edge, going from MOTHER'S FINEST type sound, to a Jazzy Horn Driven EARTH WIND & FIRE type vibe. The melodies, rhythms and tunes are catchy, and even without knowledge of Japanese, they'll stick in your head and get you dancing. Anyone who doesn't find his or herself doing the KOME KOME WAR chant by the end of hearing it the umpteemth time (and you WILL want to), will have to be FUNK IMPAIRED. From the opening to the last cut, everything works... KOME KOME WAR, SURE DANCE I CAN BE and many other songs on this album would become KAROAKE BOX classics. "Super Horns Section" BIG HORNS BEE steal the show... JUST U and SIMPLE MIND show IISHI TATSUYA's brilliant gift as a sweet soul singer, while other cuts represent a Jazzie funky pop edge. Quirky, Slick, and overall great soul music from the Land of The Rising Sun ! The lead member of this group has also directed movies, heald art exhibits and designed his own fashion line. David Byrne/Prince all rolled into one ? Neat cover design !
Bad remakes of really good songs. 17 Sep 2000
By Amy Parsons - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
All of the songs on this album are very good. But they are all remakes (by the original artist, slower tempo). To me this is a very bad thing. They are lounge versions of good songs, which is worse, in my opinion, than a bad song. Re-release 5 1/2, EBIS, Pushed Rice, and Komeguny!
