Product Description

In early August 2008, 11 people lost their lives challenging the deadliest mountain on earth: the notorious 'K2'. It was the biggest disaster in mountaineering history, a tragedy that forever will be etched into the minds of the survivors. K2, a Cry From the Top of the World is a striking documentary about this catastrophe, filled with unique footage from the expedition and in-depth interviews with some of the survivors. It s a story about both courage and despair, and a grim reminder of why K2 is known as the Savage Mountain.

Embarrassingly bad 7 Mar 2010
Sorely disappointed and felt it was a complete waste of money. Ultimately, neither does the DVD provide any sense of scale to the challenge presented by K2, nor does it provide any sort of legacy to the individuals involved - there is little in the way of biographies, acknowlegement of all those involved or any analyses on what happened and why.

Moreover the DVD is poorly edited, the use of footage is inadequate and contributes nothing to the journey up K2, and setting the scene around the terrible tragedy. In conclusion the presentation on the sequence of events does not flow and leaves the viewer feeling confused around what actually happened.

The sleeve claims Tomas Axelsson is a renowned Swedish producer - based on this DVD he must be renowned for producing something other than quality....

Poor documentary 20 May 2010
This gives some insight into the K2 disaster but not a whole lot. In fact it seems to have been released more so that the climbers can feel better in their own heads about what happened. The final scene where the climbers justify their choice to descend to the cameraman reeks more of easing a guilty conscience than anything else. The documentary offers no analysis of what happened and doesn't seek answers as to why it happened. A let down...

As in the previous review headed 'Embarrassingly bad' , this is actually an understatement. This film does not give any sense of climbing the mountain, it has very little climbing footage, and that it does have is uninspiring. As the review before states it fails completely to profile the characters or what happened or anything in any clarity. It is more of a retrospective using talking head interviews and is only worth about two minutes of screen time as if seen on the nightly news.
So am thoroughly disappointed in wasting my time hoping for something of interest, adventure and insight, and so would not recommend this under any circumstances.
