Book Description

22 Mar 2011 K-On! (Quality) (Book 2)
It's been almost a year since the girls of the pop-music club started jamming together, but the start of the new year is no time to look back on their journey - it's time to recruit new members! Despite their inexperience, the girls' passionate performance at the entrance ceremony impresses first-year Azuka, a budding guitar player who can't wait to join.
But she didn't expect there to be so much tea-drinking in the pop-music club. Or...When do they get around to making music?!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great manga 31 Dec 2013

This manga was really great, if you like school life and comedy type manga then this is a perfect manga for you. The book was in good condition but didn't seem new.
4.0 out of 5 stars Really growing on me... 27 April 2013
By ChibiNeko - Published on Amazon.com
I was rather pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this volume. If the first volume was a little too similar to the equally well known Lucky Star 4koma series, then the second one showed me that they're different enough to keep the more cynical readers entertained.

The cuteness factor has to be one of the best things about this series. If you're a fan of cute girls doing cute things, you'll continue to love this series with the second volume. The inevitable vacation scenes continue to be my favorite portion of the series, although Yui getting a cold is pretty fun as well.

This really is a sweet and harmless series, which is really nice to read inbetween the more serious fare out there. There's only so much Higurashi you can read before you just need to read something that's more comprised of sweetness and light, after all.

I don't think I'll ever be as big of a fan of this series as I would like to be, but it's one that I'll continue to collect and would recommend to others to do the same. The good thing is that while it'd be best to read them in order, if you do happen to pick up the second volume without having read the first, you won't really be that lost. The series is one that can be read (so far in my experience) in any order without having to know that much of the back story- something that can be invaluable when you're in a bookstore that only has the later volumes.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good, light-hearted fun 7 Aug 2012
By VolkswagenFox21 - Published on Amazon.com
The second volume of K-ON! is more of the same, which is good in my books. This volume also finally introduces Azusa.

I enjoy the anime adaption of K-ON! quite a bit. Even though the anime adaption has expanded on the original manga, it still doesn't feel as if something where missing, though I appreciate how the anime fleshes out the characters better.

Since it's a 4 panel manga, it's easy to pick up and read whenever the urge strikes. Since it's fun and light-hearted, I always feel good after reading it, no matter what my previous mood was.

I have a little complaint, and that is how they chose to translate Azusa's nickname. As most K-ON! fans know, her nickname is Azunyan, but Yen Press translated it as Azu-meow. I know there are good reasons for why they would translate it that way, but it annoys me every time I see it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Volume 2 15 Aug 2011

Since there are no real reviews of this volume I figured I'd write a quick one.

Here is my subjective opinion of the volume:
After watching the anime and reading the first volume, my main complaint stands: The manga feels too rushed compared to the anime. The anime, partly out of necessity for more content, adds many jokes and events of the light music club during their recruitment.
This volume mainly focuses on their recruitment of Azusa. There are priceless gags and moments added in the anime that the manga is missing. I am fully aware that the anime was made after the manga but I still believe more content is necessary in the manga to keep a reasonable pace.

Objectively, without considering the anime however, I have to give this volume 5 stars for its accurate and correct translation without losing much impact from the Japanese version. Thee art is good, which is what you should expect from kakifly, and is what KyoAni referenced for the anime.

It was a great buy, it was fast and it was cheaper to buy here then in Sweden.
