Product Description

They won’t be victims anymore.
• In Seattle, an aging mutual-funds salesman falls prey to the lure of a young boy’s flesh;
• In New York, a 10-year-old plunges an ice pick into the heart of a street hustler to prove his love for a girl he met on the Internet;
• In Chicago, a young girl waits in the rain outside a seedy downtown bar for a man she’s never met to stagger home;
• In Vancouver, a teenager waits patiently on a deserted rooftop for a signal that one of North America’s most notorious murderers is about to walk free.
Tom Hackett, a Seattle-based freelance photojournalist, is always looking for the perfect front-page splash, but when he stumbles into the bloody path of the mysterious group known as K.A.R.M.A., he quickly discovers that its thirst for revenge is unquenchable — and it won’t let anyone get in its way.

More About the Author

Born in Scotland, living in Canada and writing U.S.-based fiction, I like to wear a kilt and toque with my six-guns. My debut novel, SWITCH, became an Amazon bestseller in the UK (Bantam Transworld) and Germany (Heyne) and in Canada from Penguin. It is now available for the first time in the U.S. in ebook and 1st edition trade paperback.

My second novel, No Cry for Help, is available from Bantam in the UK and in Germany from Heyne. It is coming to the U.S. and Canada in 2012.

My third novel, originally dubbed too controversial for mainstream publishers, K.A.R.M.A. has just been released as an Amazon E-Book and 1st Edition trade paperback in the U.S., Canada and the UK.

Under the pen name M.C. Grant, I will be releasing a brand new, and very fun mystery series featuring wisecracking, butt-kicking, San Francisco-based reporter Dixie Flynn through the wonderful folk at Midnight Ink. Dixie's first adventure, Angel With A Bullet, launches on Sept. 8, 2012.

My short stories have been featured in Out of the Gutter and Spinetingler magazines, plus the First Thrills anthology edited by Lee Child from Tor/Forge. My first screenplay won a fellowship at the Praxis Centre for Screenwriting in Vancouver, B.C.

As a journalist, I have worked in virtually every area of the newspaper business from the late-night "Dead Body Beat" at a feisty daily tabloid to senior copy/design editor at two of Canada's largest broadsheets. In between regular newspaper gigs, I have also contributed technology/humour columns to various magazines around the world. I currently reside in Victoria, BC, where I am Editor-in-Chief of Monday Magazine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read 5 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Done something wrong? It may be about to catch up with you. That's the premise of this tale as abused kids seek retribution.

It's a thoroughly good read that keeps you turning the pages all the way to the end. I never noticed any spelling mistakes (they seem commenplace elsewear :) ) so either there are none or the story was too good for them to spoil.

Don't miss out, buy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grant does it again 26 July 2012
By Tom
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Another fantastic book from Grant McKenzie, really enjoyable and impossible to put down. Really hope that we haven't seen the last of these characters as I'd love to see them again in another book in the future. The story line is interesting, witty and enjoyable throughout. Would recommend this book to anyone, and personally I cannot wait for his next book to be released.

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER WINNER FROM THE STORYSPINNER! 22 Mar 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Having acquired a Kindle for my birthday, I was looking for something good to read on it. I had previously read the print editions of Grant's other novels, Switch and No Cry For Help and had enjoyed them immensely. So, I decided that the first Kindle novel I would read would be "K.A.R.M.A". My decision was richly rewarded.

The synopsis of the story is listed above, so I won't go into that. I will only comment that it was an interesting story concept and well executed by the author. There is some 'colourful language' and some scenes which are graphic in nature. Therefore, I might suggest that 'sensitive souls' might be better finding something else to read. However, there is nothing I haven't read elsewhere in popular thrillers currently available. Everything adds a realism to the characters and story setting.

The tension is taut throughout the story and you constantly have that nagging feeling that there are some twists on the way but you can't be sure exactly what. The twists do come and build to a satisfying climax.

Overall, this is another winner from the storyspinner, Grant McKenzie!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended! 14 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Another brilliant book from Grant McKenzie who has quickly established himself as one of the best thriller writers in the business.

KARMA (Kids Against Rape, Murder, Abuse) is a group of kids taking violent, bloody revenge against their abusers - all coordinated through secret online chatrooms by the mysterious Cypher.
Hackett - a freelance photographer - gets lucky and captures photographs of the first murder scene but that only drags him, his friends and family in to KARMA's web.

The plot fizzes along, the characters are well drawn and interesting. I certainly hope we get to see more of Hackett, Fats and Chandra!

As in true Grant McKenzie style, this book would not let me put it down. I hope that this does get published as a Paper back as I still like to keep my favourite books on my bookshelf and this will be one of them! Cannot wait for the next thriller to be published by this fantastic author!
