Karcher SC1020 Steam Cleaner

I was reading reviews about this fancy way of cleaning and bought it primerily for my kitchen floor.
But its worked out that i can use it for everything! cleaning turned into fun process and even mu husband who is not big fan of cleaning enjoying it now.
There are some tips i can give after I read some previous reviews:
@Floor becoming too wet. Not if you keep steam output on lower setting
@After first meter you spreading dirt around. Not if you overturn cloth. You can do it up to 4 times on one cloth.
@cloths are too expensive for what they are. You can create your own out of old towel. Just cut it to same size and off you go. For me i use 3 cloths for each room separately.
@little brush collects grease and after that it become ineffective. You dont have to buy another one. Just apply a bit of washing up liquid, press against kitchen sponge and release steam. steam will clear all grease out of brush and sponge will collect it.

I've wanted a steam cleaner for at least 10 years , My husband and I argued every time I went to buy one. So I always gave in for the sake of peace. However I have a guest staying with me that 'sprinkles', and no matter what I threw at the loo, it still smelled like a urinal. In our other bathroom there was a slight musty smell, that I suspected came from the tiles near the shower. The usual arguments ensued, I was the only one who could smell these odors. Anyway I got up in the middle of the night and ordered one. OH was out when it arrived, and I set about the bathrooms. As soon as my OH arrived home I took him to show him the cloths, the one from the shower was yucky and smelled musty , the other one smelled like stale urine. Then I showed him the 'spotless bathrooms'. No arguments whatsoever, Yay!

Wow. I am exceedingly impressed with this steam cleaner.
I was a tad perturbed that it does say not to use it on the oven; according to my friends' that's probably because the steam can damage the seals on the door, but just not to direct the steam near the seals - so I've not tried this yet. But I have cleaned my kitchen, and lounge. I have a leather sofa and I was astounded at the colour of the cloth after using the karacher on it. And oh, it was wonderful at cleaning the hob, which did have a fair amount of burnt on spills - tackled those easily. And that fatty sticky residue that is a bit of a bugger to remove..the karacher with the little brush on, easily cleaned it away.

My kitchen tiles are shiney and look fab; the black mould that had grown in the grouting behind the sink and no amount of wiping had removed, was easily blasted away. It cleaned the back pvc door and glass beautifully - there isn't a window attachment with this model, so I used my own squidgy thingy afterwards to remove the condensation; and again using the small brush attachement to scrub any stubborn spots and the glass came up lovely.

I have laminate floors and they were quick and easy to clean - and dried much quicker than when I use the mop. I had hoped they would come up lovely and shiney and they haven't..but I am in rented accommodation and the laminate is quite badly scratched.

There are a few niggles; the power lead could do with being longer. A few more brush attachements would have been nice, and I found the handle of the steam gun did get quite hot after prolong bouts of steaming. The cloths supplied are great; but not fantastic quality so I imagine the cloths will fall apart after a few uses and washes.

The niggles do not detract from the 5 star rating though.
I personally would not buy extra cloths, the pack seems expensive for the quality, and the floor cloth is just a piece of terry toweling that one folds over and fits into the clips on the floor attachment, and the cloth that goes over the medium brush, is just a round bit of cloth with some elastic sewn in the top. And to be honest, simply wiping over surfaces that have been steamed with a seperate cloth is easy - do have a bundle of cloths. I have a tiny house, and I used 4 or 5 cloths just on the kitchen!

so yup very impressed with this peice of kit and wish I'd bought one much sooner. I cannot wait to tackle the bathroom; I have a 4yr old boy, so you can imagine the toilet and floor tiles - even tho I do clean the toilet every day; there is always a faint waft of urine, so I'm hoping the steam cleaner will make my bathroom not only sparkly but fresh smelling too!
