I was reading reviews about this fancy way of cleaning and bought it primerily for my kitchen floor.
But its worked out that i can use it for everything! cleaning turned into fun process and even mu husband who is not big fan of cleaning enjoying it now.
There are some tips i can give after I read some previous reviews:
@Floor becoming too wet. Not if you keep steam output on lower setting
@After first meter you spreading dirt around. Not if you overturn cloth. You can do it up to 4 times on one cloth.
@cloths are too expensive for what they are. You can create your own out of old towel. Just cut it to same size and off you go. For me i use 3 cloths for each room separately.
@little brush collects grease and after that it become ineffective. You dont have to buy another one. Just apply a bit of washing up liquid, press against kitchen sponge and release steam. steam will clear all grease out of brush and sponge will collect it.
Happy cleaning!!!!

Bought the Kärcher SC1.020 Steam Cleaner from Amazon and this day, Sunday 3 November 2013, was the first day of use. I chose this unit as it is the cheapest Kärcher on offer and comparing specs' with the dearer units seemed best value. Indeed I still can't see why anyone would buy any of the dearer units as they all seem to have a very similar performance.

Assembling:

The unit fits together easily and intuitively. The handbook is good and if you're a linguist in 28 languages! All very straight-forward.

Usage:

Previously I used a mop-n'-bucket to clean the kitchen which has a ceramic tiled floor.
I first thoroughly swept the kitchen to remove all the loose stuff.
The unit came up to steam within the stated 8 minutes and kept up the steam pressure for the duration of the clean about 15 minutes.
The cloth pads get a bit grubby after around 2-4 square metres (proves their working) but this might be as previously I used a mop and was not happy with the cleanliness achieved.
The Kärcher towelling cloth pads are circa 15" by 8" so by turning and refolding you have 4 sides to use. I rinsed out the cloth each time I turned it to remove the worst grime. This is the same as rinsing a mop and not too much more effort.
I also used microfibre cloths which being 16" x 16" give 8 sides available by refolding as above and are easy to attach and use.
Both can be rinsed out and then washed in the washing machine & tumbled then ready for reuse.
The Microfibre cloth was most probably marginally better as it seemed to leave less water residue on the floor although cleaning wise no discernible difference.

After researching for weeks we decided on the Karcher. There seemed to be varying reviews on all steam cleaners but as we've bought other Karcher products and been pleased we thought that we would spend a little extra and have one to clean our floors ( main reason) and also attachments to do other cleaning jobs around the house. We know others who have bought upright steam floor cleaners that seem to leave the floors very wet and with most of our floors being wood - it was important to make sure it cleaned but didn't drench the floors.

We received promptly and got it about £30 less on Amazon compared to some of the major outlets - the water reservoir holds less than 1litre but is more than sufficient and we've used twice now and always have had to empty the unit before packing away. - so plenty for most jobs we would think.

Agree that the parts and the cable can be a bit untidy but we've got storage so not an issue. Works a treat and we've cleaned tiled and wooden floors really effectively - just make sure you let the unit reheat to maximise the steam during use. Very stubborn stains will need a bit of an extra scrub by hand but it's really effective and quick and we were cleaning up after some DIY work so expect now that we've given everything a good clean it'll be a breeze to whizz around and keep on top of it.

The small hand fitting was used in the bathrooms and it's amazing what you find coming out of the nooks and crannies that you think are clean!

The hand tool with the small towel elasticated around does seem to get very wet during use and needs some extra wiping (cooker hood, glazing, mirrors) but we'll experiment to get this and it could be that we didn't let the unit heat fully before starting?

We would very much recommend, we've been very impressed and it works a treat for us.

I've wanted a steam cleaner for at least 10 years , My husband and I argued every time I went to buy one. So I always gave in for the sake of peace. However I have a guest staying with me that 'sprinkles', and no matter what I threw at the loo, it still smelled like a urinal. In our other bathroom there was a slight musty smell, that I suspected came from the tiles near the shower. The usual arguments ensued, I was the only one who could smell these odors. Anyway I got up in the middle of the night and ordered one. OH was out when it arrived, and I set about the bathrooms. As soon as my OH arrived home I took him to show him the cloths, the one from the shower was yucky and smelled musty , the other one smelled like stale urine. Then I showed him the 'spotless bathrooms'. No arguments whatsoever, Yay!
