Proper R&B and then some, 21 May 2004
This review is from: Just for a Thrill [Digipak] (Audio CD)
What an excellent album. I bought this on the strength of having heard "Tax Man" on the radio, which is the best version I have ever heard. This album can truely be described as R&B unlike what is generally considered as R&B in modern music, but it touches on swing and soul also. I had expected the album to be more blues based R&B given the origins of the Rolling Stones, but this is a CD recorded by someone who is obviously enjoying his music and has produced a truely great recording. This is the first CD I have bought for a long time that I loved every track.

Classic blues brought up to date with a swing, 6 April 2010
Just for a Thrill has a collection of old blues classics, and a few newer tracks, lovingly recreated with hints of jazz, rock and swing by a bunch of talented enthusiasts thoroughly enjoying themselves. If you already like Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings music, then this CD will not disappoint you.
Guests include Mark Knopfler, Andy Fairweather Low and Tommy Emmanuel. Some of my favourite tracks are 'Down Home Girl', 'Mississippi Flyer', 'Memphis Woman' and 'Taxman'. On my 2004 version of this 'Special Edition' the extra track 15 was the outstanding 'Jitterbug Boogie', but I notice that now you are just as likely to get two different extra 'Live' tracks 15 'Hit the Road Jack' and 16 'Georgia on my Mind'.
Previous excellent CDs with almost no track duplication are
Struttin' Our Stuff,
Anyway the Wind Blows,
Groovin' and
Double Bill. However, the later live concert recordings, available from Bill Wyman's website as the Bootleg Kings, are collected together in a double CD
Jump Jive and Wail and those are almost all live and enhanced repeats of material on the first five CDs.

Absolutely brilliant. An outstanding version of Taxman by Beverley Skeete who displays her superb vocal range on this cd.
