Product Description

Emma (ne Cox) and Joe Sheridan have just got married. Emma has been in love with Joe since school - marrying him was the happiest day of her life. But now the honeymoon is over and Emma's having to cope with the reality of married life. She's living in a new town, has a new job and a new husband who hasn't quite left his bachelor days behind him. Then there's Emma's interfering mother-in-law who's expecting the patter of tiny feet before Joe's even carried her over the threshold! Still, at least she and Joe are together at last. But Joe and Emma have never lived with each other before - and apart from the odd holiday - have never spent more than two weeks in each other's company. Setting up home together for the first time might be romantic, but nobody told them that living happily ever after takes a lot of hard work...

Just Married 26 Aug 2003
Format:Paperback
Very easy to get into, it kept me interested all the way through. I liked it because it was based on the reality of marriage. I could relate this to many aspects of my life, as I am living with my partner and we are both in busy jobs. Dissapointed with the epilogue didn't seem to be in keeping with the reality of the rest of the book - too sugarcoated!

This book charts the early marriage of a Nurse and a supermarket area manager. The characters are believable and well-rounded, especially the Mother-in-Law! What I really liked is that the author shows the highs and lows of a couple's first year of marriage - e.g. adjusting to living together, work pressures, biological clock etc.

On the down side (for me anyway) was Barnes' inclusion of her ubiquitous single mother sub-plot - this time in the guise of a woman who has to escape a council estate with her young daughter, but of course, has the requisite happy ending. Other than that, this book is very readable and I'd recommend it to all fans of chick lit.

After having read Bumps I was on the look out for more Zoe barnes books and when I was on holiday I came across this in the English boks section and thought I would give it a go. I was not disapointed. The storyline keeps you gripped all the way through and I read it in just two days. If you are a fan of Zoe Barnes I would definately recommend this book, and if you're not, its about time you were. Read it now!
