Su Laws was born in Saxmundham, Suffolk. As a child she lived in
Suffolk, Luxembourg, Stockholm and London. Later she worked and lived in
Italy before returning to London.
Dragged away from Suffolk when she was a child, she always longed to return
to her roots and, more than anything, live by the sea. She now lives in
Aldeburgh.
The ideas for the poems, prose and flash fiction in this book come from her
love of people and places she has known. Su has an individual very definite
style and directness in her words, which is striking and refreshing. There
is a wealth of feeling felt with strong emotions well expressed. A lot of
thought goes into her descriptions creating great atmosphere and strong
images. The contents of this book reflect the serious and sunny side of the
author's character.
Su's other interests include family history, people watching and current
affairs. Su thought it amusing when recently described as 'an artist, poet
and writer'. Asked how she would describe herself she replied, 'a rebel
turned eccentric'.
Su has three grown-up children and three grandchildren. She is currently
working on a novel.
