A good cast and shrewd script make this rom com a cut above where the rom is good and the com is indecently funny! A hip music exec gets stranded in his New Jersey hometown and ends up becoming reacquainted with the woman who rejected him in high school years earlier.

This movie will apeal to any fans of the "American Pie" genere. With some of the cast from those movies in it, and with the ever funny Ryan Reynolds too it is funny for me before it starts. In the beginning Reynolds is an over weight student, who is madly in love with his best friend. However after being made to look a fool by the cooler guys (tell me about it) he dissapears. Que the foreward time jump and now Reynolds is a swarve, slim, and successful man. He ends up back in his home town and accidently bumps into his old best friend. but this time with a dfference, Reynolds now has a few rules about women and also he has a dizzy blond pop star in tow. What follows is a riot with kids hocky matches, snow, more snow, and laughs. I think the best part for me was the interaction between the 2 brothers. I think all boys are like that and it was funny to watch.
On the whole i thought it was a very funny film that didnt fall fowl of trying too hard.

it's not often that i say this but this was an awfully funny film!Ryan and Anna together particularly actually made me cackle out loud for ages!Pretty predictable but it didn't actually matter! so so witty, including the toothpaste scene- watch out for it and the end credits!Ryan Reynolds has really gone up in my good books as being a great actor and I'm glad I have been able to change my opinion.

When I first saw this film advertised I immediately thought that it would be really cheesy but my boyfriend wanted it so I decided to give it a go. I can safely say that I was pleasantly suprised by the film. It was hilarious. Some of the humour was slighty cheap but overall I loved it and it had me in stitches of laugher. If you've seen any of the Scary Movie films or Date movie or even films like american pie and have enjoyed them then I think that you will enjoy this because its the same sort of humour. Hope this helps!

this is an amazing film which is pure comedy with a great plot! Its extremely funny and its a unique film which pulls off all its jokes - not like some rom coms when the jokes just aren't funny! Theres some amazing characters in the film which all work together really well. If your into comedies or not, i reccommend that you watch this film, you'll be laughing all the way through!

I never expected going to this movie, to be laughing so bad until my face hurt. This is NOT a silly / goofy romantic comedy, but a detailed and painfully funny process of our hero being reduced to nothing, while trying to get his old flame to love him back.
Unlike "There's Something About Marry" (which obviously was a big influance), there are no bad-taste jokes here, since it's a non cursing movie (PG13). Instead, you have priceless moments with people beating eachother up, falling, destroying everything around - and that is funny as heck!

Chris Brander (Reynolds) returns home to find he is still in the friend zone with his high school crush Jamie Palamino (Smart).

The romantic comedy genre is one of the most tackled genres in cinema today and so you may wonder, what is the difference between this and every other romance?

If we look back at the most successful romances we'll see that When Harry Met Sally stole the headlines for it's depiction of the relationship between men and women, The Notebook (referenced here) looked at the big picture of love with a mental health defect and Eyes Wide Shut looked at how betrayal and lust can affect marriages.

Just Friends takes a look at the common concept known as `the friend zone' and how this can affect your outcome on life. We see central character Chris take it to heart when he is permanently put into the friend zone by Jamie in the opening sequence and what follows is a smart and exceptionally funny look at the interaction between the pair and interfering parties at the social implementation.

Years after college we see Chris has lost all his weight and can now play any game he wants with any woman he wants but when he is back in his home town with Jamie the odds and rules are thrown out of proportion and he finds he can't be himself, and right there we have a recipe for good fun and good laughs. This is perfect comic realism.

In the modern era we find we can't commit and are always in these `zones' and `stages' and are forever being hampered by them and seeing the funny comedy and light heartedness helps this be an exceptionally light and fun film.

Ryan Reynolds brings his suave persona onscreen with some wonderful physical comedy, particularly with his onscreen brother Chris Marquette.
