Better than the First but it is me....?,

Trainz 2004 is a very good simulator. If you set aside a week or so to build a good layout you won't be dissapointed. And with the excellent range of items you can download of the Auran site, in some ways it's a perfect railway simulator and modeller. However even on my fairly new pc (4 months) It can really slow down once you start to add a few buildings and splines. And in 'driver' mode it can stick and stutter. It doesn't really add to the sim effect. If you are doing layouts that have a few buildings on you should be fine- but if you are considering large towns and cities you might have problems! Even by minimising the buildings, it can have problems running. Maybe it is just me! Consider the large dense areas and smoothness of running of Microsoft Train Simulator I feel this is an area that should have been looked into. This could be perfect- if it wasn't for that. If only the world editor on MSTS was as easy to use as trainz! But I like Trainz, and I like MSTS. If only the two could merge.......

I don't know what i was expecting when i bought TRS2004, but i certainly wasn't expecting such a wealth of items! The addition of steam support has opened up an entire new spectrum of operating challenges, and made it a lot more fun than any of the previous versions! I'd say the best part was the animated fireman on the PB15 steam loco...open the firebox door, press the space bar, and he swings into action, shovelling coal like a pro! All in all, a very worthwhile buy, this truely is the best Railway Simulator ever!

I have the previous version of Trainz and I can honestly tell you that this version is far better than Ultimate Trainz. The TRS 2004 is more realistic than the Microsoft Train Simulator, shortly there will be a service pack release for the game which would improve steam engine physics, amongst other items.If you going to buy a Train Simulator BUY THIS ONE, you wont be disappointed.
