Book Description

19 Mar 2009

In the Gloucestershire village of Honeycote, country life is anything but quiet. Maybe it's something to do with all that fresh air, but it's the kind of place where passions run high...

The Liddiard family are well known in Honeycote - and now there is to be a big wedding. But will everything go according to plan? Lucy Liddiard knows her husband is no saint, but isn't prepared for his latest confession. Bride-to-be Mandy has no idea what joining the Liddiards really means. And local girl Mayday, wild child, rebel and free spirit, is thinking the unthinkable - with unimaginable consequences . . .

JUST A FAMILY AFFAIR is a glorious, all-consuming story about finding out the truth, finding a husband, or perhaps just finding yourself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant romp around the Cotswolds 12 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have just finished reading this book and as always am disappointed when its all over. I just adore the "Honeycote" series and the Liddiard family. You just love all the characters - you want to marry Patrick, be a domestic goddess like Lucy and be best friends with Mayday!
As always Veronica Henry manages to delve into the lives of the residents of Honeycote and dig up more dirty deeds resulting in another amazing read. Please, please, please let there be more novels set in Honeycote. You will not be disappointed when you read this book or any others by Veronica Henry.

5.0 out of 5 stars pure pleasure 23 May 2008
Format:Hardcover
I love Veronica Henry, she never disappoints. Summer has not begun until I have lost myself in one of her stories. She has a wicked sense of naughtiness combined with a gentle soul, so inevitably I find myself really caring for her characters. I am always reminded of someone I know, only when she describes a dilemma or love tangle it is with kindness and hope. If only real life was as forgiving and unjudgemental. Can't wait til the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyed this book 26 Oct 2008
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
It took me the weekend to read this book and it was not a weekend wasted! I loved the characters - I wish I had realised that Honeycote came before this one - never mind - my fault! I have read all her others and this is one of the best.

If you love Veronica's books I doubt if this will disappoint. More please!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars love, love, LOVE this book! 26 July 2008
By meggo
Format:Hardcover
This is the first Veronica Henry novel I've read but it won't be the last! It's just amazing how many characters she interweaves while keeping them all three-dimensional, realistic and, for the most part, sympathetic, and all with a plot that crackles with intrigue and vitality! I'm off to buy all the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a Family Affair 5 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
My wifes favourite author, at the moment, she can not wait for the next publication.

She has all the fiction books Veronica has written.

My daughter receives the books after they have been read and so the author covers all age groups.

Veronica Henry is a succesfull tv programme writer too with, Crossroads from her early work and now Holby City and Doctors to her credit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not the best she's written 26 May 2008
By JM TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I did enjoy this but not quite as much as her previous ones. I've always loved Veronica Henry's ability to charachterise so that you really feel you know and sympathise with the people you're reading about but I felt that was slightly lacking in this book, still great with some charachters ie Sandra, the bride's mum, but the bride herself was barely mentioned at all.
That said, it is still a very pleasant read, Honeycote sounds like a wonderful place to live, and I would certainly recommend Veronica Henry, she is a cut above most writers of this type of book.

5.0 out of 5 stars How important are families ? 8 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
THis is one of the books, which is a lovely lovely read - going through the various aspects of family life. Hidden secrets and not so hidden secrets. Great read - again relaxing, bedtime read after a long day. Thoroughly enjoyed dissecting and either loving or hating the different characters
