Manufacturer's Description

Rico Rodriguez is looking to start another revolution and he's not using the usual diplomatic channels. This time it's the fictional South Pacific island of Panau that needs liberating, both from the dictator Baby Panay and Rico's ex-boss Tom Sheldon.

Start a revolution and enjoy a spot of skydiving too
Boats, planes and cars are all yours to commandeer
Your grappling hook makes hitching a lift easy
Just like last time this is not going to be a quiet revolution

A mix of Grand Theft Auto and Mercenaries, once you're parachuted onto Panau it's up to you how you complete your mission or whether you just set off exploring. However you play your most important piece of equipment is the new dual-grappling hook, which lets you latch onto enemies and vehicles and then attach them to something else.

Watching a soldier shoot into the air when you snag him onto a plane or pulling the wheels off a car when you tether it to the ground is just the start, as you learn to use your refolding parachute to slingshot yourself around the island. Political change has never been this much fun.

Key Features
  • Viva le revolution: Help your lone revolutionary to liberate an entire island from an evil dictator, although how much is left of it when you're done is up to you.
  • New hook: Get to grips with the new grappling hook and parachute combo to attach yourself or your enemies to moving vehicles and create the most dangerous stunts in gaming.
  • Transport tycoon: Take control of more than 100 different vehicles - from speedboats to jeeps, tanks and even the new Boeing 737 as you journey across Panau.
  • Even opponent: All-new artificial intelligence makes every mission different, with enemies that plan ahead and co-operate and an adaptive difficulty system that adjusts to your ability.
  • Treasure island: 100 square miles of tropical paradise are yours to explore (and blow up) with climates ranging from snow-capped mountains to sandy beaches and dense cities.

I bought the limited Edition version of the game as it was weirdly cheaper than the full price version. For reference what the limited edition gives you is a paper copy of the map, a cardboard sleeve around the box and some unique in game equipment that is delivered from the black market arms dealer. These include a black Chevy style car, a hovercraft, a jaunty parachute and a mammothly powerful handgun. This equipment is expensive to buy in game and once out of ammo or the vehicle is wrecked you have to buy them again. Still money is fairly plentiful for completing missions.

The game itself is great looking, utterly vast, and good fun. I stole a Boeing 737 and flew about the map yesterday and it took ages.

The game revolves about blowing up the rebel island, taking missions to earn money and buying gear to make your quest easier. In places it is blisteringly good fun. You can nick any vehicle at all, planes, choppers, boats, cars, bikes. You drive or fly around wreaking havoc on everything on the island. The thing is that only parts of the island blow up. Trees can be felled and signage, and petrol tanks blow up very satisfyingly. Shooting gas canisters is very good fun as they shoot off, whizz around smashing things down before exploding. And the car crashes can be fantastic and crazy.

But once you have played Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where everything can be smashed down, it seems a little disappointing not to be able to demolish the bigger buildings. The combat system also seems a little vague and the enemy AI is not great. You have a sight and if you are near the enemies it goes red and you generally hit them. You don't have to be too accurate. Killing them is not that rewarding and melee is rubbish. You just lash out with the grappling hook close up.

I didnt play the first Just Cause, but you dont really need to have played it to understand this one. The story line isnt perfect, but its good enought to carry on playing. The game takes ages to complete, more than a normal game. Ive clocked up 20 odd hours and only got to 18% completion. Mainly because ive been messing about, racing cars and getting achievements.

The jobs are great fun. You run in to a settlement, blow stuff up and run away again. I didnt get bored doing this, but those of you who are impatient or want everything to be different would get annoyed with the missions. Most of them are the same, taking over a big factory, dock or airstrip.

The weapons are great, the limited edition assault rifle and pistol are very powerful and worth the in-game price tag. The enemies can become irritating though, after playing through the game they get progressively harder and harder to the point where you need to find some cover every 5 seconds.

The map is endless. Well, until you reach the end. There is so much to explore and quite a few easter eggs. I found a hot air balloon in the middle of a jungle, hopped in and sailed through the sky. Theres so many vehicles to choose from too, my favourites are the jet planes.

Overall, this game is great. It was definately worth the buy and ive not stopped playing it. I would recommend the game to everyone, although if you dont like spending more than 10 hours on a game I would not buy it.

As my title says, Just Cause 2 is probably THE best open-world action game ever made. I experienced endless hours full of fun, action and satisfaction. The game takes place on an enormous island called Panau. The island is so big that I doubt that you will ever see everything. It has over 360 single villages scattered all over the map.

To cross the map you can basically use every vehicle in your mind. Tanks, boats, jets, motorcycles, cars, helicopters, planes and of course Rico's (the main character) grappling hook and your parachute.

Trust me, there's enough to do on Panau island and you won't regret the buy of this game. If you love open-world games with a huge world, action and massive explosions, you have to play Just Cause 2!

Released late 2006 for the original Xbox and the recently released Xbox 360, Just Cause was an ambitious and deeply enjoyable open-world experience with swathes of fun attached for those willing to play it first time around. Just Cause 2 is again willing to give and give on its open-world promise, a superior experience in pretty much every aspect to that of the prequel.

For starters, upon completing the opening tutorial, players will witness the sheer scope and size of the Southeast Asian open world with which Avalanche Studios has kindly provided- the island of Panau. The world is absolutely huge, spanning across various inter-connected islands. It really is incredible to behold the level of detail that has been poured heart and soul into the game from the Swedish developers, meaning it feels instantly more gratifying and accomplished than the original. We can only be grateful for the insurmountable number of man-hours it must have taken to even try to fill the world, and thus the team can be congratulated on their achievement but ultimately as an envisioned game world it still fails in that vast areas are, obviously, sparse and unfulfilled (even with the 1000s of collectibles scattered over the map). Yes, there are significant disadvantages to the size of the island! Travelling to and from missions is often tedious and an unnecessary slog for the disappointment in the mission you are greeted with (more on that later) and thus, the vehicles that are provided goes some way to redeeming some of the negatives associated with travelling from one side of the island to the other. A swathe of content is available within the game, which can be found anywhere at any time somewhere on the island but also, through progression, can also be accessed through mobile drops.
