Manufacturer's Description

Rico Rodriguez is looking to start another revolution and he's not using the usual diplomatic channels. This time it's the fictional South Pacific island of Panau that needs liberating, both from the dictator Baby Panay and Rico's ex-boss Tom Sheldon.

Start a revolution and enjoy a spot of skydiving too
Boats, planes and cars are all yours to commandeer
Your grappling hook makes hitching a lift easy
Just like last time this is not going to be a quiet revolution

A mix of Grand Theft Auto and Mercenaries, once you're parachuted onto Panau it's up to you how you complete your mission or whether you just set off exploring. However you play your most important piece of equipment is the new dual-grappling hook, which lets you latch onto enemies and vehicles and then attach them to something else.

Watching a soldier shoot into the air when you snag him onto a plane or pulling the wheels off a car when you tether it to the ground is just the start, as you learn to use your refolding parachute to slingshot yourself around the island. Political change has never been this much fun.

Key Features
  • Viva le revolution: Help your lone revolutionary to liberate an entire island from an evil dictator, although how much is left of it when you're done is up to you.
  • New hook: Get to grips with the new grappling hook and parachute combo to attach yourself or your enemies to moving vehicles and create the most dangerous stunts in gaming.
  • Transport tycoon: Take control of more than 100 different vehicles - from speedboats to jeeps, tanks and even the new Boeing 737 as you journey across Panau.
  • Even opponent: All-new artificial intelligence makes every mission different, with enemies that plan ahead and co-operate and an adaptive difficulty system that adjusts to your ability.
  • Treasure island: 100 square miles of tropical paradise are yours to explore (and blow up) with climates ranging from snow-capped mountains to sandy beaches and dense cities.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing 29 Mar 2010
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Limited Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Just Cause was never a game I particularly enjoyed, it was too buggy, too ugly and surprisingly too boring. So I wasn't expecting much from it's inevitable sequel.

The game gets straight to the point on the first mission by dropping you into fully fledged rampage, with lots of big guns and gadgets at your disposal. Basically, all you do is blow stuff up, fuel tanks, broadcasting towers, generators etc.. Which doesn't sound great but honestly, it is one hell of a spectacle watching propane tanks flying into the sky carrying a soldier with it... then blowing up... then watching the man who is barely alive falling to his demise... then watching his blood and guts splatter all over the floor. It's amazing and it all happens in about 3 or so seconds, it's so fast paced and it flows so well with the rest of the gameplay you just walk through all the missions but the carnage never stops. The missions, to keep variety going, have loose objectives, but you barely notice them as the primary objective, you just want to blow stuff up on the way. The first mission for instance has you collect data files that have fallen from your helicopter. But they just so happened to fall into a big explosive fuel station. Great!

But the main missions, called agency missions, play a very small part to the game. Just Cause 2 is massive... Literally. It is a free roaming game, and the space you are able to roam in is mind bogglingly big! around 1000km2 which consists of countryside, jungles, snowy mountains, deserts and a city which by itself would qualify to be a game map it's that big.

5.0 out of 5 stars Played demo's, got the game... 29 Mar 2010
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Limited Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I played the demo on Xbox 360 and PS3, i was planning to try it on PC too, after playing it on the PS3 after 360 i knew which console i felt seemed more natural, so, i got this on PS3 :)

After spending days playing it pretty much non stop since i got it i decided to write this, i got mine from HMV as at the time it said it was available for pre-order, and at the same price as amazon (at the time).

I have a few problems with the game, these are minor (grapple jumping up the side of something tall, then free falling after sucks when you're climbing it) and the physics are Havok, not keen on that physics engine as it feels cheap, but it's not too bad in this game, it's poor engine goes well with the type of game Just Cause 2 is.

If you're not getting this because you felt the first Just Cause was bad, then you're missing out on a well made, fun game.

Also, if you plan to get this purely to look at the Lost Easter Egg, then you might as well rent it as you'll be wasting your time on something that really isn't that interesting, buying a game for 1 thing is both a waste of money and a waste of time, buy it to play it, see what the game has to offer :)

Overall i'd reccomend this game to anyone that has something to play it on, 360 PS3 or PC, it's the same game :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A BLAST, QUITE LITERALLY! 29 Mar 2010
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Limited Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I enjoyed the first Just Cause, it was nice bit of fun with just enough extra impact to make it stand out in my mind. So with that in mind I jumped at the chance to step into the oh-so stereotypical shoes of Rico Rodriguez, South America's answer to James Bond. He's rough, he's tough, he's as typical as toast but is his second outing a bit more than your average open world romp? Read on to find out in this, hopefully, handy point by point review:

THE GOOD:
- The grappling hook is still in place only this time it's a far more useful tool, both offensive and practical. You can smack people in the face with it, hook them to a car and drive off or even hook them to an explosive canister and watch them fly off into the distance like a bottle rocket! BOOF! Good, Good, fun.
- Your main aim is to cause as much chaos as possible, in fact in Panau -the setting for JC2 - chaos is basically your currency, cause chaos to drive out the bad guys then take them out for fat pay and a ton of cool unlockable spy vehicles and weapons. All this adds up to - you guessed it - more fun! YAY!
- Guns feel chunky and blasting enemies is a satisfyingly blood drenched affair.
- Sound effect are decent, soundtrack is a minimalist affair and the voice acting is cheesy as heck but fits with the overall tongue in cheek feel.
- A massive, and I do mean massive, world to explore. Tons to find, tons to do and plenty of ways to do it. The biggest open world I think I've played yet.
- Graphics are sweet in their own way - they aren't jaw dropping but they are full of detail and unique environments, and the vistas and draw distance are stunning. As the island turns from day to night the clouds, the lighting, the overall feel is absolutely breath taking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun in the sun. 6 April 2010
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Edition:Limited Edition
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Thought i would put my two pennies worth in on this game since i have now been playing it non stop since it came out on the 26th.
No wonder my wifes getting bored of me blowing the hell out of everything every day i get home from work!
as previous reviews have said the graphics on the game are top notch - especially if you take a 747 up as far as the game will let you (about 5 kilometer which is bloody high for a game!)the world pans out below you as far as you can see and the real time weather systems / clouds, mist hovering around the game that can be seen from this vantage point are almost too real for a game. very impressve - then of course jumping out sky diving the distance or nose diving ino a building - or whatever! And there in lies the game. Its whatever you fancy doing realy. do a few missions, then wander the enviroment to find more villages / army bases to blow up for more points to unlock more mssions. or dont and spend a whole hour base jumping off the same mountain and die over and over again just to attempt to reach the bottom without getting killed!
Or take a jet fighter for a spin through a few canyons at low level.
people who dont like open ended sand box games shold avoid this becuase too be fair you cant get any bigger and open world than this game to date.
the missions? fun but the usual stuff - blow this up, assasinate this person etc... but they are all fun as there is so many ways to aproach them. this game realy is all about the exploration of the enviroment the creaters have built and it works brilliantly.
ive done 22 hours on this game, am not even close to boredom and i recon even a 100 hours wont complete all the villges 100%.
Yes its got its downsides as others have commented but the pros outweigh.

conclusion:
if you like your open world games and can make up your own adventure. buy this.
but be warned, if you dont like these type of games you will get bored very quickly.
