Fourth instalment in the blockbusting dinosaur series. 22 years after the events of 'Jurassic Park' (1993), Isla Nublar, located off the Pacific Coast of Central America, has been reopened as a dinosaur theme park. In order to boost attendance, operations manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) asks the park's geneticists to create genetically modified hybrid dinosaurs - the latest product of their experimentation being the Indominus rex. But when the Indominus rex escapes and begins killing other dinosaurs for sport, it's left to park staff member and behavioural researcher Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to clean up the mess. The supporting cast includes Vincent D'Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins and Irrfan Khan.

If you're picking this movie, you know what you're going to get: great CGI dinosaurs, kids in peril, guy/girl romance during the mayhem. That being said, the screenwriters shouldn't have focused so much on trying to build the plot (something goes wrong at the dinosaur park!) into more than what it is, they're just taking away from the entertaining elements of the show.
Dinosaurs battling each other, dinosaurs eating and stomping on people, dinosaurs crashing through stuff and tearing up the place---all good. Backstory with kids whose parents may or may not be getting a divorce---boring. Forced romance between corporate businesswoman and tough "raptor whisperer"---predictable. Villain who wants to use the dinosaurs as military weapons---overplayed.
Of course you will need to really suspend your disbelief in general, there are lots of silly decisions, unbelievable situations, and unexplained issues. I'm ok with all that, provided that the film actually delivers on the summer-blockbuster-wow factor. Unfortunately the ratio of boring stuff to dinosaur action is way unbalanced. Even my kids were relieved when the last T-Rex roar brought up the credits.
See it once for the dinosaurs, you probably won't want to re-visit it again.

Let me start off by saying that I love Dinosaur movies and Jurassic Park 1 was simply ground breaking and breathtaking. Jurassic Park 2 was a decent follow up but nowhere near as good as 1. Jurassic Park 3 was not bad but not that great either. To be honest, it was weak and lacked charm. So when Jurassic World was announced, I got excited just like I did for the other 2 sequels, but because they were disappointing compared to part 1, I was at the same time not holding my breath on the quality of the film. After watching it though, I was blown away!
Jurassic World has so much more detail in the dinosaurs, the eye movement on the raptors was incredible and 100% realistic. The film was completely action packed, even if it was far fetched. But there are no such things as dinosaurs anymore, so people should not feel any disappointment on what happened in the film. As far as I was concerned, this film recaptured the charm of the original and made itself the only true sequel.
I 100% recommend this film to anyone, don't let negative reviews put you off a great film.

FINALLY! Finally a REALLY GOOD sequel/reboot of a franchise, something I didn't think I will live to see. After years of avoiding remakes/sequels/prequels/spin-offs/reboots and of suffering mightily through those to which I (stupidly) gave a chance, I was finally treated to a REALLY GOOD sequel/reboot film.
24 hours after seeing "Jurassic World" I am still under shock, partly because this VERY, VERY GOOD movie really took me for a helluva ride, but mostly because all of a sudden a substantial part of my system of beliefs was shattered and obliterated. It was for me an article of faith that Hollywood is nowadays only able to produce pathetic copies of great successes of its past. In fact Hollywood in past 10-15 years was functioning as a huge ruminant in a luxuriant orchard - swallowing tasty fruits created by efforts of devoted masters, chewing them noisily and messily and then producing gigantic smelly piles of excrement… And now this world as I knew it ended, because lo and behold, Hollywood took a mightily good and much beloved thing from the past and, with much care, effort and creativity build upon it a continuation tale, which is in the same time a respectful, faithful tribute to its venerable ancestor, an original and innovative thing and also a DARN GOOD FILM!
I will not say anything about the story, to avoid spoilers but also because it is also more or less clear what this film is about – even for somebody who somehow managed to avoid the trailer…))) The only thing that deserves to be said, is that if the second and third movies of this franchise are completely ignored by the scenario of "Jurassic World" (and a mighty good thing too!), the first "Jurassic Park" on another hand is still very much present in this film.Read more ›

Wiping the stain of Jurassic park 3 from the series, Jurassic world returns us to the world of majestic herbivores and carnivores with an unusual obsession for human flesh. Set on the original island this film ignores the previous two sequels (it doesn't retcon them, nor is it a reboot however) and focuses on providing a powerful nostalgia trip that will leave fans crying for more.

Owen (Chris Pratt) is ex-navy and works with raptors, eat your heart out Siegfried and Roy. Vincent D'Onofrio plays the human antagonist like Brian Dennehy and has a plan to adapt dinosaurs to military use. Bryce Dallas Howard provides our hero with a love interest because all the best films are love stories. You get the picture, dinosaurs running, flying, and swimming around killing each other and eating grandma who still has a few good years. In the beginning they hint that the audience wants action with bigger and badder dinosaurs, so they do that and sacrifice any aspect of building or creating memorable characters. I would have been happy just to see Jeff Goldblum, as an extra, getting eaten by a dinosaur.
The dinosaurs aren't any better than they were 20 years ago. The characters were bland. The film had a loose plot and I kept waiting for it to engage me. The kids weren't even as cute as the first film. Oh Yeah. Chris Pratt runs with dinosaurs, which is apparently a big deal.
Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity. Minor swearing such as SOB. 3 1/2 STARS
