Err.. I dont know who input the tracklist above but it is not for this album.
This is great goodtime music by one of the best British songwriters. Other people may do some of his work better but it is great to hear his own interpretations.
Mickey is a lovely guy and his songs reflect his happy outlook. You can't listen without a smile.
He seems to have retired and I last was aware of him running a lovely art/craft shop in Boot, Cumbria, where I bought one of his amazing watercolours from him personally.
Get any of his records, you will never be disappointed.

This record is really a little gem. Released as part of the second Stiff tours 'package' it features Rockpile on tracks 1 -7 and Gary Brooker on 8-13 (originally sides 1 & 2 of the vinyl album respectively).

The first 7 tracks are definitely uptempo and feature classic tunes and whimsical lyrics.

'I stopped buying records back in 1961, but seen as I'm here then the show must go on' (from Old Rock And Roller)being a case in point. In fact, the album is chock full of them. Check out School and Shortlist if in any doubt!!

Tracks 8 -13 are more reflective, with the ballad Pilot being a personal highlight.

Mickey should have been a big star! His refusal to fly (note You'll Never Get Me Up In One Of Those)certainly did his career no good. He could have been a condender; instead he stayed at home in Southend, leaving behind this long-lost gem! No fillers - every track a winner.

Check this out; even better buy the original vinyl and hear the two different sides of Mickey - just as it should be heard!!

It's the standard reply I've "borrowed" from Mickey Jupp whenever someone asks me to take a plane. Juppanese was his 1st solo album and it's somewhat more mellow than his previous albums with Legend. What a pity Nick Lowe didn't produce the whole of the album because the Gary Brooker produced tracks are a bit too laid back to my taste. Having said that I must admit it's a more than fair album still. My only regret with this remastered version is that the Mickey Jupp Band tapes aren't included with the bonus tracks. Those tapes were recorded with his big band a year or so prior to Juppanese and included an embroyonic version of Ol' Rock & Roller ( then called Ol' New Orleans ) and his original version of Down To The Doctor's ( made famous by Dr Feelgood ).

And indeed could somebody please put up the Juppanse tracklisting instead of the Beck Bogert & Appice album which is on display now ? Thanks !

peace,
Martin
