Product Description

Episodes 12 to 20 of the space drama. Set in the year 2050, the drama takes place in orbit around the moon Callisto on the spaceship Ilea. Ilea, home of Columbus College, University of Space, plays host to post-graduates and gifted undergraduates together with the children of scientists and mining engineers from Earth who have come to work on the moons of Jupiter.

Product Description

Jupiter Moon
The Plasma Ball

Vol. 2 - Episodes 12 - 20

"It's crazy. I know... but can it be alive?"

The Spaceship Ilea is paralysed, captured within a cloud of matter that seems able to think, and to foil all the ship's efforts to espace.

Now the ship's H2 extractor plant can supply oxygen for only a few more days, and the magnetic shield is giving way.

While the students and crew work desperately to create a defence, space-criminal Alex Hartmann (played by Jason Durr) makes a tempting offer to navigator-cadet Mercedes Page (played by Anna Chancellor).

It is possible that two people could escape the stricken ship in the command module?

Taking water, and oxygen, and leaving everyone else to die.

Jupiter Moon is about the perils of life on the very frontier of human existence.

It is about the loves, passions, and ambitions of young people growing up in an alien and dangerous environment, many million miles away from Earth...

5.0 out of 5 stars A splendid series! 3 Sep 2004
Format:DVD
Jupiter Moon is a soap opera set in space, so if you were expecting anything like Babylon 5 you WOULD be disappointed at the soap elements.

However, Jupiter Moon is a well acted and interesting serial. The young and relatively unknown cast play their parts well, and there is a certain addictive quality that keeps you coming back for more.

Although (like every other soap opera) the show deals with relationships, there is always the bonus of the unfolding space drama. Something is fast approaching Jupiter system, and within a few episodes the occupants of the spaceship ILEA find themselves cut off from the outside world. As the show progresses, they find themselves in an ever-worsening situation which leads to high drama and some edge-of-the-seat moments.

If you've never seen the show, I highly recommend you give it a try - you'll be pleasantly surprised!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hollyoaks meets DS9 4 July 2004
By A Customer
Format:DVD
This is not a DVD to sit down and watch from beginning to end. The "soap" elements of the show slow down the sci-fi plot so that it becomes tedious to watch all in one go. If though u watch it as you would on TV one episode at a time when you have a spare 25 minutes to fill..it`s great. One word of warning if you buy the first DVD you`ll want the rest and with a 150 episodes it going to be quite an investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crossroads in space! 23 April 2004
By A Customer
Format:DVD
A rather unfortunate nickname acquired by 'Jupiter Moon' in spite of the£6 million pound budget back in 1990 when it was the exclusive sciencefiction/soap opera of the ill-fated BSB satellite system. 'Jupiter Moon'was perfect for their space age television and concerned the story of thecrew and students aboard Christopher Columbus College in orbit aroundCalypso. Stories veered from typical soap opera fare to harder sciencefiction scenarios such as a '2001' style 'computer goes mad' plot, a heistby a gang of space pirates and a planned mission beyond the solar system.Best of all was its view of the future and the chance to see the likes ofAnna Chancellor and Lucy Benjamin in early roles. Designed with theatricalflair and written in consultation with British Aerospace (to keep it asfactual as possible) this remains a throughly enjoyable series for anyonewho likes their soap opera a little camp and out there!
