This is not a bad book but it's not that good either.Maybe my expectations were too high but I stopped off from upcycling a wall unit with paint and decoupage to look at my new purchase and be inspired. I wasn't.
I think this book may be great for a complete beginner but is there really anyone out there who doesn't know you can melt old vinyl records to make bowls, paint and decoupage furniture, or make a pinboard out of corks? I think the only new projects I saw were an idea for making a desk tidy out of old floppy disks and a glasswear and cement centrepiece but I got rid of my disks at least ten years ago and have no wish for a black plastic desk tidy in my home anyway and the centrepiece looked like the worst home-made 70's monstrosity.
I hate to condemn a book but I think this is dated and although the instructions are clear with good step-by-step pictures it seems redundant in the age of internet tutorials. I'm returning my copy and buying something else.

Junk for Joy,by Sian Berry is an excellent for anyone who hates to throw anything away.It gives out plenty of ideas for re_cycling bits and pieces,which would otherwise be destined for the tip.Well written and illustrated it is a must buy item,if you enjoy trawling auctions,charity shops and amenity sites! I recommend buying this book! I should ,the author is my daughter!

Appealing but few original ideas

This book is nicely laid out & initially I thought it would provide lots of inspiration & practical ideas but I was a little disappointed. What it does contain is appealing & well explained, its just that there weren't all that many new or original ideas. The type of book that you're better off borrowing from the library rather than buying.
