I have read all of Mr.Grote's books up to date and I can't recommend them enough. Fantastic reading especially for a history lover, well written and well researched. A well deserved five star rating. I'm looking forwards to the next in the series. Keep them coming Mr Grote!

I really wanted to love this book, but... 1 Jun. 2015

I was really excited to get this book, because it's set in a place I know well and love, and it's historic. And what a great cover design! The writing's okay but that's the problem: with a good edit, this could be excellent. The material is great, but the writing is flabby and undisciplined, there are many grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors -- enough to make me frustrated and not finish the book, which is a shame. A classic case of a writer who didn't feel the need for an editor, when a sharp editor could have been his best friend. It makes me sad, because this should have been a great book. I hope the author allows a qualified editor to have a go at it, because I'd love to re-read this in the professional form it should have been released in to begin with.
I know the beautiful history of this land 11 Oct. 2014

As an author myself who knows your cousin, I know the beautiful history of this land. You portray it magnificently in this book. You researched it well and bring the characters to life vividly and down to every detail not of just the big historic events but the average person who lived at the time as well.
