If you've only seen this movie on VHS, you've missed the whole frame of some fabulous photography of the Venezuelan rainforest, and a dramatic upgrading of the sound quality. Since the sound includes a magical score by Michael Convertino, this makes a big difference to the viewing pleasure.
If you've never seen the movie, you have in store for you Tim Allen's best and most endearing film performance, a sharp and attractive one from Sam Huntington as Tim's 13-year old son, and the majestic JoBeth Williams as Tim's wife and Sam's mother.
Beginning and ending in Venezuela, the story is closely based on Little Indian, Big City, but retells it with added warmth and wit. Tim discovers he has a son when he visits the wife who left him to work as a doctor in the jungle, neither of them then knowing she was carrying his child. The bulk of the ensuing comedy is the culture clash arising when Tim brings son Sam ("Mimi-Siku") back to New York and his yuppie lifestyle.
Throw in the Russian Mafia (a well-balanced turn by David Ogden Stiers, juggling menace and farce) and a burgeoning love affair between two thirteen year-olds (á la Romeo and Juliet), and you have an often-laugh-out-loud family Disney comedy with moments of real visual and musical beauty.
Even our sons in their late teens still love this!

Probably one of Tim Allen's best comedy performances, along with Martin Short too. This really is a wonderful family film, about a young lad who moves to New York City to live with his father, after growing up on an Island in Venezuela, there are some stunning scenes of the Island and of New York in this film. This movie really will reach out and touch your heart, especially if you have children. Funny and heartwarming, a must have.

Brilliant kids film - set in the urban Jungle and the amazonian jungle, a hiliarious and heart-warming story of a man discovering he has a son living in the jungle, and their exploits back in America - great fun - keep an eye out for the big 'pet' spider - recommend 10/10

I remember watching this film at the cinema years n years ago. I also remember it was the only film that i watched at the cinema that everyone applauded at after the film finished.

One of the funniest Comedy Films, but then of course it would be, becos it's Tim Allen.

He also Starrs In Home Improvement, which I've also yet to get.~

Tim Allen Is a Legend.

Great Family Fun, This film is reccomended for anybody with a sense of humour.

I remember watching it when I was younger so I bought it. The DVD itself was in great condition but the case is slightly broken on the side I don't know whether that occurred during postage or before but thats the only downside to the product.
