The concept of archetypes is itself an archetypal concept.
This book tries to trace how the archetypal hypothesis itself emerged out of the unconscious over the last 400+ years. I chose to follow its emergence in both psychology/ philosophy and mathematics, but because in the unconscious the material is undifferentiated, it really didn't matter what field I chose. If I were smarter, I could have done so in any field: art, music, literature, etc. This is my 2nd attempt at this material. I wrote an earlier version 10 years ago, then evolved the ideas over a series of articles. I'm betting I'll still be trying new version 10 years from now, as it it so hard to communicate some of these ideas.
