Nella sala di un istituto di New York, Terry Doolittle, simpatica afroamericana, è adibita ad uno dei terminali che sovrintendono ai movimenti valutari internazionali. Vivace, spiritosa e vitale com'è, Terry si diverte ogni tanto ad alternare alle cifre qualche scherzoso messaggio ai suoi corrispondenti. Un giorno però lo scherzo viene fatto proprio a lei (ed uno scherzo poi non lo è affatto): un misterioso Jumpin' Jack Flash si intromette nel suo monitor e la prega di cercare una altrettanto misteriosa "chiave" poichè si trova nei guai in un Paese dell'Est e intende assolutamente tornare a Londra. C'è dunque qualcuno (un agente segreto inglese) che ascolta Terry, il che la lusinga molto, ma anche le parla e le chiede soccorso. Bisogna aiutarlo. La "chiave" (la ragazza alla fine la scopre) è un certo si bemolle dei Rolling Stones e con ciò Terry si trova coinvolta in un gioco estremamente pericoloso, condotto da CIA e KGB. Le toccherà prima scovare e prendere nella casa di J.J.F. una innocua padella (sul cui fondo però sono incisi i nomi di due tizi, che in seguito verranno spietatamente eliminati), poi intrufolarsi ad una festa presso il Consolato di Sua Maestà Britannica e qui penetrare nell'Ufficio telescriventi per inserirvi un marchingegno. Tutto ciò sempre sorvegliata o tallonata sia da un certo mister Jeremy Talbot (del Servizio segreto inglese) e da un suo collega, sia da vari misteriosi tipi dell'una e dell'altra parte. Questo tra sparatorie, inseguimenti spericolati ma anche assurdamente comici, energiche reazioni della robusta ragazza, messaggi del sullodato J.J.F., arrabbiature di Mister Page (direttore della banca). Ma qualcuno trama nell'ombra, affinchè quell'irrequieto J.J.F. che sa troppe...

I firstly have to say that I'm a little biased when reviewing this film. It is my favourite film of all time and I'm a huge, huge, huge Whoopi Goldberg fan!
I had this film on VHS for years and watched it so much, I wore it out and had to do with a video recording off the BBC!! So you can imagine my joy when I saw it was heading to DVD, and at a budget price too!
£5.99 does not do this DVD justice! I mean it is so funny. It the the tale of a Bank Computer Operator Terri Dolittle (Goldberg) who is brilliant at her job but underappriciated by her bosses so therefore she plays while working constantly. One night she is contacted by a British Secret agent (Price) who is stuck in Communist Russia without an exit code. All other lines of communications have been cut his only lifeline is the zany New York banker.
It has fantastic comedic scenes (guessing the password hidden within The Rolling Stones' Jumpin' Jack Flash is a prime example) and stand out performances by Goldberg, Tracey Ulman and the late Phil Hartman.
***** - Buy it now! And buy two copies while you're at it, just in case you wear yours out like I did!!!

I have been searching for this video for ages! I originally saw it a few years ago and laughed so much. The storyline is really amusing and Whoopi Goldberg is so brilliant in it. If you like her in some of her other earlier films you'll love her in this!

The Storyline, the Characters, The Film in it's entirity runs like a well oiled laughter machine which near made my sides split. No, REALLY! I have never laughed so much. Her impression of Diana Ross, the encounter with the shredding machine and the phone box incident. A real must see to be appreciated. Laughed? I tittered 'till the cows came home.

Great movie
I have always enjoyed this movie and will continue to watch it.
The story line is cute and Whoopi Goldberg is very funny in it.
