Book Description

23 May 2011
Many dream of a new life Down Under. After all, who wouldn't want to exchange a life of grey skies and the ready meals for one of spontaneous barbies laden with fresh seafood under a never-ending blue sky? Author, Iain Ayres, did just that and has now built a business inspiring others to do the same. Jump Down Under is exactly the book he wishes he'd been able to read before he took a leap of faith and moved to Australia. This book tells it how it is. The reality of making the move, telling the family, settling in and, most importantly, how to get that coveted visa! With the emphasis on first hand accounts rather than endless to do lists, Ayres provides the reader with a snapshot of the pre-decision, pre-departure, arrival and settling in process told by people who have been there, done that and now got the (probably Fosters XXXX) tee shirt. After hours of interviewing men and women, husbands and wives, singles, the young and not so young, this is the only book of its kind and fills a very real gap in the market. All the practical stuff and vital information is there too, of course. This is the definitive must-read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for anyone thinking about moving to Oz 11 Jan 2012
By Victor
Format:Kindle Edition
We have been thinking about moving to Australia for a couple of months now and have booked a holiday in April to see if we like what we see when we get there. We have also been watching "Wanted Down Under" every day to see what other people's experiences are like when considering the move. So, reading this book has given me a much better and in depth insight into what to expect when preparing for the move, travelling there and then settling in. I was gripped from the moment I started reading it and within just over a day I read the entire book. I am glad I stumbled across this when doing my research online about Australia as it has put a lot of things in perspective and answered a lot of questions. I am now convinced that this is what I want and what will be best for my family however I still need to see it with my own eyes before I can be 100% sure. A great VFM book that I would recommend to anyone thinking of moving down under.

5.0 out of 5 stars A relocation must read. 20 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
If you are just thinking or actually in the process of moving to Australia, you must read this book. Having recently moved to Australia I can honestly say that I can relate to all the concerns, emotional roller coasters, sleepless nights and the happiness covered in the six real life stories within Jump Down Under. I had a lot of anxiety about moving to Australia, which is understandable as it's a big move, as I couldn't really share all my thoughts, apprehensions and questions with other people since I was the only one going through the process. Which is why I loved this book and can recommend Jump Down Under, it normalises the emotional aspects, questions and the stuff that keeps you awake at night by sharing what six other couples have experienced during their own relocation to Australia.

I wish I had found this book when I started my visa process, I would have slept and managed my concerns a lot better throughout the whole relocation experience. Having children I was also worried about how they would fair during the move and settling into Australian life. It was great that two other couples in Jump Down Under also had children which helped me to realise that children are adaptable, can cope with change with a little help, and that Australia is a wonderful place to bring up children. I was also a bit worried about how we would manage spiders and snakes, author Iain Ayres, explains and gets straight to the point using real life facts about these deadly creatures and if you should indeed be really that concerned.

I recommend reading this book to anyone thinking of moving to Australia or who are just interested in people's experiences of living in another country.

Regards

Sharon
