Amazon.co.uk Teacher Review
Travel around the world and take part in some really wonderful animal adventures. Frankie is advertising the fact that Habitat Magazine is looking for inquisitive children who just love to investigate, and they are invited to sign up for a Safari contest. So the adventures begin! Join CJ, Evison and family, who are all set to board the "All-Over-Rover" (which travels on land, navigates water and flies high in the sky). Start to explore in four different habitats--the temperate forest, the Savannah grasslands, the Tide Pool and the Rain Forest. Discover many different animals, fill in contest sheets and earn rewards, exchange points for animal stickers (which can be printed out) and play the Animal Facts Game, alone or with a friend. What better way is there to learn?
Vivendi have produced yet another excellent CD-ROM, allowing children to learn while having fun and at the same time contributing to their personal development, creativity, memory and critical thinking. The publishers recommend that the CD-ROM is suitable for five to eight year olds, but help will be needed for the younger end of this age group, for example in installation. However, older children have much to gain from playing the games also. To get the most from the CD-ROM, a printer is advised (not included) though it functions perfectly well without. The excellent pamphlet accompanying this program is very child-friendly, using simple language, black and white photos and an easy-to-follow format. --Susan Naylor
