Product Description

These award-winning Julius Katz mysteries have delighted thousands of fans since first appearing on the pages of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine in 2009. JULIUS KATZ introduced readers to Boston's most brilliant, eccentric and possibly laziest detective, Julius Katz, as well as his sidekick, Archie, a tiny marvel of whizbang computer technology with the heart and soul of a hard-boiled PI. In Julius and Archie's second adventure, ARCHIE'S BEEN FRAMED, the little guy is framed for murder and Julius needs to use all his wits to keep his inimitable assistant out of the slammer.

JULIUS KATZ attracted a devoted following when it first came out, and has since won the Shamus Award for best story from the Private Eye Writers of America, as well as the Derringer Award for best novelette from the Short Mystery Fiction Society. ARCHIE'S BEEN FRAMED won 1st place in Ellery Queen's Readers Choice Award, with their readers choosing it as their favorite story published by the magazine in 2010. If you haven't had a chance to meet Julius and Archie yet, now's your chance to get caught up in these charming, delightful and very unusual mystery stories.

As a bonus, the first chapter of the full-length Julius Katz mystery novel, JULIUS KATZ AND ARCHIE, has been added. Also, look for ONE ANGRY JULIUS & OTHER STORIES, available now!

There are two Julius Katz mysteries together in this purchase and both were great reads. Julius is suave and appreciates the finer things in life. He's like a modern day Sherlock Homes, gathering clues that are withheld from the reader until the final revelation of who did what to whom. He has the help of a virtual assistant, Archie, who does the grunt work for him. I thought this was well written, intriguing, and will keep you guessing!

Great, but short 8 Mar 2012

It took me a few pages to get into this, I was a bit puzzled by the mix of old-fashioned style/characters/story with ultra-modern technology... but once I got the idea I was hooked!

This was a highly entertaining, nicely written short read, and I'll be buying the full novel with the same characters.

Deserves All the Awards 25 Feb 2011

Julius Katz and Archie are the best thing since Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin, and I think Rex Stout walks on water and the original Nero Wolfe books are pretty close to perfect. Dave Zeltserman has found a way to update this classic relationship to the 21st century, and then build crackling mysteries around it. Both the stories in this volume are a delight, and at this price they're probably the best deal on Amazon.

Great Mysteries and it's only 99 cents. 18 Mar 2011

Master of the noir-thriller Dave Zeltzerman does something a bit different. The award winning Julius Katz Mysteries include two stories: Julius Katz (won the Shamus award and the Derringer for best short novellette and Archie's Been Framed (won Ellery Queen's Reader's Choice Awards for best short story) These are lighthearted, fast moving and simply fun to read. Doesn't matter what Zeltserman writes his prose always sucks you in and doesn't let go. I hope there are more Julius Katz stories forthcoming. Buy this. Its less than a buck. You just can't get better value than that.

I, the Jury by Mickey Spillane, and from that point on was hooked on crime fiction. From Spillane, I moved on to Hammett, Chandler, Rex Stout, Ross Macdonald, and many other crime writers before eventually discovering Jim Thompson and Charles Willeford in the early 90s. "e;
