Fascinating biography and a perfect summer read,

This review is from: Julie Walters: Seriously Funny - An Unauthorised Biography (Paperback)
I've been a huge fan of Julie Walters since her 'Victoria Wood, as Seen on TV' days and this well crafted biography detailed Julie's life from working class Birmingham through to her Hollywood/OBE/National Treasure current status. I particularly found the descriptions of Julie's early stage career to be interesting, especially when juxtaposed with the politial climate of the 70s and 80s. The authors pulled no punches with the anguish caused by Julie's daughter Maisie's cancer treatment and I'm sure this will help other parents in the same situation.
All in all, a great book and it's lovely to hear that Julie's a joy to work with in whichever production she's appearing in. Great stuff!

Great Tribute to a National Treasure,

I am a huge fan of Julie Walters and I found this book absolutely fascinating. There are so many interviews it really feels as though you know what she was like - the stories of her as a child are lovely, and the pranks she got up to as a nurse are funny. It was also really interesting to see how her career developed and where she became typecast. Again lots of her colleagues talk so you get a backstage account of her work. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about the wonderful Julie Walters.

Not so much a biography as a catalogue of her work,

This review is from: Julie Walters: Seriously Funny - The Unauthorised Biography (Hardcover)
This book would be very interesting to anyone who wishes to know the details of Miss Walters' work. It drones on in far too much detail about who wrote and directed what, and what other work they had done, who was in what play and so on.It becomes quite boring early on in the book if you are intersted in knowing about the person.I would not recommend this book to anyone.
