"Let your third eye glow!" 20 Oct. 2000
By "thetaildragger" - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Simply put, Jug Fulla Sun is THE rock album of the year. These guys are so good it's scary. Wino's musical vision seems to be at its most intense alongside Sherman and Gary. Jug Fulla Sun has an aesthetic dimension to it that's increasingly appreciated with time. Wino's guitar tone has been described as having a "shiny" quality to it - and it "shines" through on every track. Cosmic Artifact and Lost Sun Dance will blow your mind. Not only does "God" apply his virtuoso instrumental prowess throughout, but also intelligently lends his soaring epic voice over the top. Wino's vocal tone seems to reside somewhere between John Kay and vintage Leslie West, although it's a hell of a lot more flexible than either and his style is more vintage Ozzy than Lemmy (unlike in The Obsessed perhaps). But even those direct comparisons are unfair and though Sabbath is an obvious influence (as it should be to any appreciating rock musician of Wino's generation), they are hardly a Sabbath clone as less discriminating people may suggest, because it's just totally f'ng Spirit Caravan, and they are WAY TOO CREATIVE to ever mistake them for their predecessors, no matter how great those bands were. Lump them into the stoner rock jumble at your own peril -- you'd be hard pressed to find more sincere or talented musicians - and in an age where cancerous commercialism has sought to turn rock into indie-pop or stupid rap-rock, Jug Fulla Sun is revitalizing. Only perhaps Gov't Mule's Dose can stand alongside Jug Fulla Sun as the THE "three-piece" album of our time!

Newbie Stoner Rock Fans, Start Here! 27 April 2002
By D. Montgomery - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I'm just getting into Stoner Rock via my love of Black Sabbath, and this band is fantastically close to that classic sound! I much prefer these dudes to Fu Manchu, Nebula, Sleep, Monster Magnet, Kyuss AND Queens of the Stone Age. If you want Sabbath-derived Stoner Rock instead of, say, Stooges/MC5 Stoner Rock, or Hawkwind or BOC-sounding Stoner Rock, start here! There are even some hints of Humble Pie to give it that full-on 70s groove. Buy it immediately - I just ordered their 2001 album, Elusive Truth - can't wait!

im amazed at the creativity 23 Jan. 2003
By john sarnie - Published on Amazon.com

this is agreat album. i never heard an acoustic song so heavy and good. this is an important album in this genre. very moody and cool. these guys are setting the tone for all heavy bands to follow. even c.o.c. who is big on columbia could take lessons from this band. great tone and vibe, not to metal. a masterpiece. i guess when you strike gold like this the only thing left is to break up. what a shame because im wearing this cd out.great work guys.

Wino On Maximum Overdrive 24 Nov. 2000
By infrared - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
There is not a single throwaway track on this CD, although "Kill Ugly Naked" is my least favorite track. While Spirit Caravan displays influences from obvious sources like Sabbath, Zeppelin and possibly early Trapeze, Wino's axemanship has a style which is unique to him IMHO. This is hard rock/heavy metal/stoner rock at its best, regardless of what you call it. I would have given it more than 5 stars if I could.

Wino On Maximum Overdrive 24 Nov. 2000

Since this CD arrived it has been spinning several times a day on my stereo at near nosebleed sound levels. There is not a single throwaway track, although "Kill Ugly Naked" is my least favorite track. Put this CD and Spirit Caravan's EP "Dreamwheel" in your CD changer and let your third eye glow.
