5.0 out of 5 stars jjd review series 5 9 Aug 2009
Format:DVD
The 5th season of jjd(or at least 4 of the 6 episodes) continues the well-written, well thoughtout, story of Judge John Deed(played by the excellent Martin Shaw)on his crusade to try to help bring wrongdoers to justice whilst trying to keep the home office at bay. This is TV at it's best, with Shaw consistently stealing the show with is roguish charm and his refusal to submit to the status quo. His chief target is the Home secretary, who constantly battles to tie a noose around Deed's neck, only to see the Judge slip loose time and again. Supporting Shaw are love interest Jenny Seagrove as barrister Jo Mills, the wonderfully charismatic and entertaining Donald Sinden and all the usual suspects such as Caroline Langrishe as Deed's ex-wife, the aforementioned home secretary and Simon Ward. The episode to look out for here is the one where the known racist eats part of the black man he has killed whilst they shared a cell. Don't eat lunch before watching, and you probably won't want it after! All in all a grade 1 programme. Pity that it has now finished. ED C Gray

5.0 out of 5 stars John Deed 2 April 2010
Format:DVD
If you liked the previous series you need have no hesitation in buying Series 5. It's more of the same but without repetition. The characters are maturing as you would expect if this were real life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Judge John Deed Series 5 1 Oct 2009
Format:DVD
Was very pleased to be able to obtain both Series 5 and series 6 which would finish the series nicely except they were in a format 2 which was not available here in Australia but was able to get around the problem by going through a computer. One of the better series coming from the UK and well thought out. When you see a couple of episodes it makes you want more and more and although Australia only showed some of the series it was enough for interested viewers to seek more copies anywhere they could get them. Deed protrays a person that champions all causes relating to good and not corruption, which appears to be the norm these days. He crosses the lines occasionally but always for the good. Well recommended.

Very disappointed that eposodes 5 &6 omitted. Was advertised as complete series 5 and for that reason I chose this Dutch version at extra cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Judge John Deed 26 Dec 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Why oh why are the British public not trusted to be ethical with episodes 5 & 6 of series 5 of this fantastic drama? Considering what trash IS available - it is totally unacceptable to 'cut' these two crucial episodes from the series. Simple question - WHY?

3.0 out of 5 stars incomplete 13 Dec 2009
By Sue
Format:DVD
Series 5 of Judge John Deed is excellent viewing but it is incomplete. This product was purchased from the Netherlands via Amazon.co.uk and it is missing episode 24' One Angry Man' and episode 25 'Heart of Darkness'. This is very disappointing as there is no natural flow-on to Series 6.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is Series 5 28 July 2009
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have bought this and it IS series 5 is in English and can be played on UK equipment. If Stephen Lunny's informtion is correct it may be the only way to obtain (most of) series 5 so whilst a little more expensive than usual DVD's I consider it worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Judge John Deed Series 5 5 Mar 2010
Format:DVD
I was most disappointed to find that episodes 5 and 6 were not part of the set of DVD's labeled series 5. It looks to be false advertising or misrepresentation.
