This unit has bought my old kitchen knives back from being consigned the rubbish bin! Once you understand the concept that no matter how much you use a butchers steel if the knife is blunt you cannot hone a good edge, so once I ran the blade through the sharpener and finish stages I am now able to keep a fine edge on my knives by the recommended method of using a butchers steel. Well worth the money
