This 4th novel in Virgin's short-lived Judge Dredd series features Dredd taking a group of Cadets out on a training mission in the Cursed Earth, only to run into a powerful psi-mutant who was created and then abandoned by the Judges, and is now planning his revenge...
Bishop's second Dredd novel is a lot more serious in tone than 'The Savage Amusement', and ultimately the better novel, with a fast-moving action-based storyline that only gets bogged down at the very end with an over-extended 'farmhouse under seige' scenario. The book is steepped in Dredd continuity, being something of a sequel to an old Judge Anderson comic strip, and featuring numerous cameos from other strips (and indeed Bishop's earlier novel) but enough info-dumps are provided that it never becomes confusing.
Certainly not a deep or complex novel, but as a straight-forward action-adventure story this is a good fun read.

Yet again another fun story with non-stop action. Another must have for any Dreddhead. This is my 2nd favourite story in this collection.
