If, like me, your a long time Dredd fan, this Graphic Novel is a real let down, sorry, but it is. The cover is about the best piece of art you'll see to be frank. It is not 2000AD quality artwork, its from The Judge Dredd Magazine, and you can tell. It reminds me of those College Mag's you used to see, containing some kids idea of pop-art!! If your hoping for some Classic Dredd, your going to be VERY disappointed. If you like mixed up & messy art where you cant really see whats supposed to be happening you'll love it. I don't, so I didn't. I NEVER skip through a Dredd Graphic Novel, I did this one, and had I been in a book shop I would have put it down after about 5 seconds. Ironically I brought AMERICA at the same time, which is considered one of the best Dredd back stories, and Brothers of the Blood, which along with Judgment Day, are perhaps the two best Dredd Graphic Novel's. When you compare this to them, you realize how poor it is, art-wise. These stories are 'whimsical' and poorly constructed and utterly fail to capture everything that makes Dredd who he is. Yes, he does kill a few 'perps', but that's the easy part, making it a joy to read is the hard part, and this fails in that regard. I gave it 2 stars because it is Dredd, and I could bring myself to give it none. Perhaps I should have....

Not the 'normal' mega-city world

Be warned citizens of the big-meg, this collection of stories is not really set in the world of Judge Dredd. it is a sort of hyper-violent version, and should not be thought of as 'cannon' to any of the Judge Dredd story lines. Having said that, if you are a Dredd head like I am, you will probibly still enjoy the prog's in this collection, but it is more surreal and violent than normal Judege Dredd goodness.
