Product Description

Did you ever hear the one about the Jewish telegram that simply read: ‘Start worrying. Details to follow’?

Like the one above, there are plenty of stereotypes that exist about Judaism. One thing, though, is for certain. This is a really interesting religion that has been around for thousands of years, and it has an enthralling history. Sometimes that history has been sad, but it’s an enduring religion that is still followed by plenty of people today.

Woody Allen, Albert Einstein, Mel Brooks, Leonard Bernstein, Natalie Portman and Elizabeth Taylor are all Jewish, and who doesn’t like the work they do? (They’re not the only Jews; they’re just some famous ones we found to get you interested. There are actually more than 13.1 million Jews around today.)

So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at Judaism and some of the key figures from the religion’s history.

The "Plain and Simple English" series is part of BookCaps™ growing library of book and history recaps.

4.0 out of 5 stars Judaism in Plain and Simple English 29 May 2014

This book is excellent and gives an insight into Judaism which which is plain and in simple terms. Only criticism is far too short, however it has rekindled my faith in Judaism and a yearning too learn more about my Jewish faith. I give this book four star's.

1.0 out of 5 stars Way too brief, simple and a bit stupid 25 Dec 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
My wife is a Christian - well, not really, but she is not a Jew. I thought she might benefit from an introduction to Judaism, as I am from the faith, but not of it. Our children might also benefit, as this is a homogenous Christian society that has lost its faith.

This book is poor. It does not explain who Jews are, where the religion came from, its core beliefs, relationship to Christianity and other essential subjects, like persecution and diaspora. Instead it focusses on less important questions. I found it a waste of money. It is written in a childish tone - perhaps I can write a better one!

Be warned.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very quick overview of judaism 14 April 2013
By Deborah
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Very very informative about Judaism - history section is very interesting. It is such a pity that there are not more straightforward books like this around. I am a Christian and it was interesting to see some links between the two faiths brought out clearly. As I am about to start work in a jewish school in September knowledge from this book has at least given me a good grounding in the religious teachings of most of my pupils.
