First broadcast on Radio 4 in seven episodes in 1978, this dramatization finds Bertie Wooster trapped in rural Steeple Bumpleigh with a gathering which includes Florence Craye, to whom he was once engaged, and her new fiance, Stilton Cheesewright, who regarded Bertie as a snake in the grass.

This was my first Jeeves & Wooster adventure, and probably still remains my favourite. It is clever, witty, compelling, and best of all, absolutely hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing at Wooster's ridiculous, harebrained schemes, that as always, end in destruction, heartache and absolute comic genius. The paraffin joke is my favourite but there are so many classic slapstick moments of comedy, anyone could be in fits of laughter for hours.

An absolute must for those who marvel in the use of traditional english vocabulary as well as those who enjoy a light-hearted read and chuckle that will keep you amused for hours.

Hilarious! 29 Nov 2001

Whenever I need some time to relax and just want a hearty laugh, I listen to the Jeeves and Wooster- stories. Just what the doctor ordered, to say it with young Bertie. And a story that includes damsells, writers and policemen, has to be the right thing for å Wodehouse fan!
