Product Description

Synopsis

In the practice of Kum Nye, the initial focus is on relaxing the body, using massage, postures, and movement to release deeply-held tensions and stimulate the circulation of vital energies through the body and mind. On a more advanced level, we can work with Kum Nye to relax the senses as well, exploring their capacities for greatly enriching the quality of our lives. When we move more deeply into these practices, we learn that they can awaken intensities of feeling that fill our consciousness with beauty and joy. "The Joy of Being" goes beyond the purely physical aspects of relaxation to explore this application to the senses, the perceptual process, and cognition. The author points to the pressures and restrictions that affect the nature of our experience and offers exercises that open gateways to new dimensions of enjoyment and pleasure. Chapters include Breath, Energy and Feeling; Relaxation and Meditation; Tuning Our Physical Senses; Getting the Juice Out of Experience; Mind and Perceptions; Making Mind Our Friend; Finding Our Foundation, and The Need to Be.

Like William Bloom's almost-classic 'The Endorphin Effect'', Tarthang Tulku's book, 'The Joy of Being' sets out to present self-help solutions for dealing with life's ongoing stresses and complex emotions. Both books draw on wisdom traditions without being overtly religious, and both present their ideas in simple, straightforward ways.

'The Joy of Being' contains physical exercises, and guidance on how to meditate in order to develop ways to feel less pain and stress for more moments in the day. Large print, nicely spaced pages, illustrations for the physical exercises: - nice book, fast delivery from Amazon as usual, recommended.

Kum Nye Yoga changed my life... 22 July 2010
By P. Givens - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
It is not an exaggeration to say that Kum Nye yoga changed my life. Everything the previous reviewer said is true, and then some. In addition to the other books, there are DVDs which show you how to do the postures and give you a sequence of exercises to do - I think the DVDs are only available from the Kum Nye website - [...]. They also do retreats in Kum Nye in a beautiful location in Northern California - [...]. I just finished doing a Kum Nye retreat, and I feel alive, whole, in touch with myself, better able to communicate with others. There was a woman on the retreat who is 78 years old - and she looks like she's 60, if that. We went on a long 4 hour hike, and she did the entire walk, faster than some of the (much) younger people there. I have more energy, more vitality, more interest in life. Check it out!

It is based on Tibetan Buddhist teachings, but you don't have to be a Buddhist to do them and get the most out of it.

Even More Great Yoga Exercises! 17 Jun 2010
By Nolan Guiffre - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Kum Nye is perfect for total body relaxation! This book has wonderful pictures to accompany the new exercises. Kum Nye is not a form of yoga that requires extreme flexibility and a lean frame in order to reap any benefits. Even the people in the book are of average size. I use the original Kum Nye book,Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga: A Complete Guide to Health and Wellbeing , for yoga sessions at least twice a week and this book helped me to expand my practice. Another great book I use when I am feeling tension is Tibetan Relaxation: The Illustrated Guide to Kum Nye Massage and Movement - A Yoga from The Tibetan Tradition. I would recommend Joy of Being to everyone interested in living a balanced, relaxing life.
